How to Take Charge of Your Personal Life so Your Professional Life Can Soar
OFFLINE

Think your personal and professional lives aren't intertwined? Think again. Chances are that despite your best attempts to keep the two separate, the quality and stability of your personal life often have a direct impact upon the quality and success of your professional life. In fact, for many people, their professional life mirrors their personal life.

When your personal life is stable and happy, this mirroring is a good thing. Your professional life will be productive and rewarding because you'll be able to direct your attention and energy to your work, your customers and your teammates. However, if your personal life is filled with turmoil, grief or pain, your professional life will very often suffer. When you're emotionally drained from hours of conflict, sadness or abuse at home, it's difficult to focus on even the simplest work-related task. It's no wonder then that when asked to choose between two equally qualified employees, managers will routinely choose to keep the person with the stable personal life.

To many people, this may seem unfair. After all, your personal life is private and none of your employer's business. While this is very true, the fact is that many employees do not keep their personal lives private. Instead, they bring their personal problems into the workplace, thus affecting their ability to do their job well. Since organizations must focus on profits and customer satisfaction above all else, they can not afford to allow unproductive workers to stay on the payroll.

However, many employers do realize that there will be times in their employees' lives when circumstances beyond their control may affect their ability to perform on the job. In these instances, most organizations not only understand, but they are also willing to make arrangements to help employees through these difficult times. With that said, though, the employers also have certain expectations of their employees.

They expect employees to try to deal with their personal problems on their own and to ask for help only with the most serious problems;

They expect employees to make every reasonable effort to get help if they need it;

They expect employees to work with them to find a solution, such as a temporary replacement or a new work schedule, so they can continue to provide the best service to their customers while they work together with their employees to deal with their problems.

Regardless of what may be occurring in your personal life at the moment, there are steps you can take to meet your employer's expectations while taking charge of your personal life. Following these guidelines will enable you to become the employee your organization fights to keep.

1. Separate the "Big" Stuff from the "Little" Stuff

If you're constantly upset, depressed, stressed, or involved in a life "emergency," your job performance will continually decline and your employer's patience will finally wear thin. No organization should be expected to accept a drop in work performance for every stressful event that comes along. Your employer counts on you to deal with most situations on your own, most of the time, without affecting your ability to have a positive impact on customers and co-workers. Before you bring your most current "crisis" into the workplace, decide whether it's big enough to warrant assistance. While you can expect compassion and help for dealing with big problems, such as the death of a spouse or a catastrophic illness, you can't expect the same kind of support for little problems, such as the dog being ill or your child's softball game being rescheduled. Once you learn to separate the big stuff from the little stuff, you can keep your personal life in order by reacting to the problem appropriately.

2. Get Help if You Need It

As understanding as employers may be, they can only do so much to help you. Ultimately it's your responsibility to make every effort possible to work through your crisis, even if it means getting help from outside sources. However, the hardest thing for many people to do is admit they need help. They mistakenly believe that asking for help is a sign of weakness, when in reality the opposite is true. For the most part, people who ask for help tend to be very strong and determined not to become victims of abuse, neglect, violence, or tragedy. How willing are you to get help when you need it? If your personal life is in turmoil, then you may be able to benefit from some of the many excellent services available in your community or through your organization. Remember, whether you solve your problem yourself or with the help of others, the results are worth the effort: peace of mind, healthier relationships, a new outlook on life, and of course, better on-the-job performance.

3. Work with Your Organization to Find a Solution

When you do have a "big" problem that justifiably affects your job performance, let your manager know about it as soon as possible. Trying to keep it a secret or hoping no one will notice may increase the stress already induced by the event. But instead of revealing your situation and then waiting for your organization to come up with a solution, bring to the meeting some possible solutions that would work for both you and your employer. Perhaps you could be temporarily transferred to a department that requires less customer contact, or maybe you could make arrangements to switch schedules with someone in order to give you the time you need to deal with your problem. When you show your employer that you respect their objectives and are prepared to do what it takes to get your personal life back on track, there's usually little they wouldn't do to help you.

Today's organizations expect their employees to come to work ready to put their full effort and energy into the task at hand. Maintaining a stable personal life is one of the surest ways to accomplish that. But while no one's personal life will ever be perfectly in order, being able to separate the "big" stuff from the "little" stuff, asking for help when you need it, and working with your organization to find a solution for your problems are the keys to weathering any crisis. Always remember that when your personal life is in order, it will be reflected in your work and in your ability to ensure your future employability.

Organized Effort
OFFLINE
“Help thy brother’s boat across and lo! thine own hath reached the shore.” Out of organized effort comes power, and out of power intelligently directed comes a higher civilization.

Men who know how to get that which they want always ally themselves with others and proceed toward their objective through co-operative effort. The lecture bureau of this magazine offers an excellent object lesson in the principle of organized effort.

One hundred men and women have pooled their services under one directing head. Each of the one hundred has back of him the combined energy and ability of the other ninety-nine. These one hundred people will reach and influence an aggregate of more than eighteen million people each year, and out of this vast army will be gathered a following of those who have profited by that influence.

This following and its far-reaching influence will increase the power and the ability of each of these one hundred people; thus, through organized, co-operative effort each of the one hundred will have added to himself the combined power of the other ninety-nine. Single-handed no man can accomplish enough to cause much of a stir; but, through allied effort Rockefeller became the world’s richest man, Henry Ford has astounded the world and put the most learned men to shame by comparison, James J. Hill got up from the telegraph key and became the greatest builder of railroads, and George Washington carved his name at the head of the list of immortal patriots. There is nothing within reason impossible to the man who allies himself intelligently with the organized forces of the world, through the co-operative effort of other men.

Master Your Life
OFFLINE
Master Your Life
by: Napoleon Hill

The successful person learns how to transmute stumbling blocks into stepping stones. He begins with the greatest hurdle, the basic fears.

These fears are the major causes of failures, physical and mental ailments, divorces, and lack of achievement. However, if recognized and properly evaluated, these fears may serve beneficial purposes for the person who has them under control.

Measure yourself courageously against them. You may make discoveries that will give you a new way of life and success such as you may never have dreamed of attaining.
  1. THE FEAR OF POVERTY. The mind attracts that which it dwells upon. The persons who condition their minds for the acceptance of poverty by fearing it and expecting it to be with them always will never be its master. The successful person conditions his mind for financial success by deciding how much money he desires and keeping his mind fixed on this sum until he creates ways and means of getting it. You can't think in terms of poverty and hope to become financially independent.
  2. THE FEAR OF CRITICISM: The major reason why so few people become top-ranking successes is their fear of what "they" will say if new and advanced ideas are adopted. Criticism can be of great benefit to the person who will use it to carefully analyze himself to determine how much of the criticism is accurate. Resentment of criticism is a sure way to tie one to a low station in life. The person who is headed toward success in the upper brackets of achievement welcomes honest criticism. He often pays high salaries to professionals who do just this. Honest criticism always is beneficial to the person who accepts it as an inspiration for self-improvement.
  3. THE FEAR OF THE LOSS OF LOVE. This basic fear is at the bottom of most cases of jealousy. More often than not it has no real justification. But, justified or not, it is a sure killer of success opportunities.
  4. THE FEAR OF ILL HEALTH. The doctors have a sixty-four-dollar word for this fear which is responsible for a large portion of their work. It is "hypochondria"--imaginary illness. Sound physical or mental health cannot exist with the individual who lives, talks and think in terms of ailments.
  5. THE FEAR OF OLD AGE. The successful person transmutes this fear into a priceless benefit by recognizing that the Creator has wisely arranged for all individuals to trade their youth for priceless experience. The fact that a large majority of the greater successes of the world were attained by men and women who had passed the age of fifty should help anyone to master this fear and divert it to beneficial ends.
  6. THE FEAR OF DEATH. This is the "grandfather" of all fears. The successful person properly relates himself to this fear by accepting it as inevitable. He keeps himself so busy in his chosen calling that he has no time to devote to trying to solve the riddle of the hereafter. He leaves this to those who make it a profession.

All of the basic fears can be mastered and directed to useful ends by the person who conditions his mind to draw upon and use the powers of Infinite Intelligence through applied faith. He will recognize that there is a need for fear or else it could not exist. He will also recognize that every experience, good or bad, pleasant or unpleasant, can be made beneficial by the person who relates himself to it in a spirit of understand and reliance upon applied faith through the power of prayer.

Go back into your own past experiences of adversity and you may observe that the passing of time has proved that some of your failures and defeats where only blessings in disguise. It is often difficult to find the seed of an equivalent benefit when you are too close to the wound of an unpleasant circumstance, but TIME, the great universal healer, often reveals this seed and converts it into a priceless asset.

Lloyd Collier of Whiteville, North Carolina could not have considered himself unfortunate when he was stricken with total paralysis from the waist downward. Instead, he looked for the seed of an equivalent benefit and found it. He became a watchmaker.

Today he owns one of the finest jewelry stores in the South. He married one of the most attractive young women of his town and has two charming children. His home is one of the loveliest in the area. Not once has Lloyd complained that life has been unkind to him. And most important of all, he has a positive mental attitude toward all the circumstances which touch or influence his life. He accepts his affliction only as a testing device of his faith and belief that he can do whatever he desires to do.

When the great Chicago fire destroyed Marshall Field's store he said, "On this very spot I will build the world's greatest retail store." And he lived to see his affirmation become a reality. The spirit of courage and faith which built the store still prevails, to this day, in the great Marshall Field store in Chicago.

Your greatest riches often do not reveal themselves except in the hour of adversity.

The person who is in complete harmony with the Infinite cannot be handicapped by any sort of fear. He has access to a power that is greater and he knows how to draw upon it for all of his needs.

Analysis of men and women in the upper brackets of success, in a variety of callings, reveals the astounding fact that each individual attained success in almost exact proportion to the adversities and defeats which had been met with and overcome.

A letter from G to Coach Dale Brown
OFFLINE

Coach,

I want to thank you for the opportunity to spend a few minutes with you at the Bellagio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.  It was a pleasant and unexpected surprise.  I have to say it, a high point for me!  It meant a lot to me getting to go to your hotel room and you giving me a personal copy of your new book!

I went home later that day and read the whole book in one sitting.  It touched me deeply and brought out many fond memories of LSU Basketball.  Johnny Jones’ forword exumes my sentiments exactly, even though we really do not know each other that well.

I remember those early years at LSU (1972-1974) like they were yesterday!  I was a very lucky kid.  I got to go to all of the open practices, camps, events, and games that went on those first two years!  Several highlights for me included getting to go to that Purple/Gold dinner and meet Adolph Rupp and John Wooden, sitting on the bench for that first win over Kentucky (January 5, 1974) and then again against Auburn later that season.  There are many more and I could go on and on!

I felt like that eleven year old kid that got to meet you that first time.  I met you that first time at Joe Dean’s basketball camp.  I played against and went to many events with Mark Dean.   Before each home game, I would go up to you and wish you good luck!  I guess it worked!  I was at that first win over highly ranked Memphis State!  It seems just like yesterday.

Coach, I am not a star struck person or an idol worshipper.  God or myself has always been first.  There have been two that are close though.  The first was Bob Hope.  He personified class, integrity, humor and a true concern for people.  He lived to be 100 years old.  I guess we can learn from him.  One of my many goals was to meet him.  Unfortunately I did not get to accomplish that one goal.

The second, Dale Brown, his staff and that 1972-73 “The Hustlers” team.  Why?  I learned to always have a positive mental attitude, especially in adversity.  To never give up.  That dreams do come true! To always hustle and perform to your best abilities.  I learned that as an eleven year old!  I have applied it to my short basketball career (Junior High/High School) and most importantly in my everyday life ever since!

You, your coaches, and your players lived it.  What better way to set an example.  That first team definitely over achieved!  They were, in my opinion the best team you had at LSU over the twenty-five years you coached!  I know there was the 1980-81 team (obviously the best team) and many other great teams too.  But that first team with players you inherited and with talent that was not as great as the rest of the SEC, they overachieved!  They were “The Hustlers!”

As I shared with you at the Bellagio, you have touched many lives and have had a major impact on many.  I just wanted you to know how as an eleven year old in 1972 you touched my life in a positive way.  It has had a positive impact on my daily life ever since!  You preached it!  Most importantly you have lived it!  You have set an example for others to follow!  I chose to take your teachings and apply it in every thing I do!  I have over achieved and hustled ever since.

Over the past eight years I have been working on creating a training company (in addition to running my marketing/management company) that teaches many of the fundamentals you have taught me.  I will keep you posted.  I definitely see the opportunity for you to be  one of my guest speakers in the future.

I truly want you to know how much I appreciate you and to thank you!  God has a tremendous way of working!  I know that our meeting was not chance!  Out of all the people that were there and you happening to walk all the way to the point where I could see you and recognize you, what a miracle!

As I said before, I had a great child hood growing up in Baton Rouge.  Unfortunately my dad the “honey man” chose to move the family to Kansas in June of 1974, which turned out to be the right call for him.  My mom and dad are both doing great and have been married for almost 45 years!

I have been looking at going back to my roots (Baton Rouge).  I have wanted to visit several of my close child hood friends, several teachers that had a positive impact on me and of course you.  I was not sure if I would be able to see you, but I was going to try.

I appreciate your open invitation to come to Baton Rouge, call you and come by your office!  I am going to take you up on that!  I will buy you lunch or dinner at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse!

I am sending you via mail my first short story and movie script “Lil’ Hammer”.  I believe it has some potential to tell stories that are fun, but gives hope to people.  One of my stories (that I have not gotten down on paper yet) is about how the Lil’ Hammer, an over achiever goes to LSU and becomes one of the first “Hustlers”.

One last thought Coach, I believe you could make your next book be “The Hustlers”, My first year as LSU’s Basketball Coach!  Just a thought.

Again thank you for your time, your wisdom, and most importantly the positive impact you bestowed upon me, starting in 1972!  I look forward to continuing our relationship!

Sincerely,

GJ Reynolds

Keeping Your Attitude Up When Circumstances Are Down by Chris Widener

"Instead of spending your time thinking about how bad things are, think about how good they will be!"

Everyone knows that a positive attitude is key to the successful life. But what happens when things go wrong? What happens when circumstances deal us a blow? We have a tendency to let our attitudes take the dive along with our state of affairs. Life deals us setbacks, both minor and major, on a regular basis, but if we are going to be successful, we need to know how to deal with them and keep our attitudes intact! We need practical tools to help us understand how we can go about keeping our attitude up, when the circumstances are down. Here are some thoughts to help us do so:

Take some time-out. I'm sure you are aware of what happens. You are going about your day and everything seems to be going well, when out of nowhere disaster strikes. All of your best-laid plans begin to tumble. Sometimes circumstances surprise us and we react. Unfortunately, this often compounds the problem because by reacting we tend to operate out of our weaknesses instead of our strengths. We make decisions that are not well thought out. We function with a bad attitude that says, "I can't believe this is happening!"

The next time circumstances turn against you, take some time to just step back from the problem and think. This will enable you to deal with the issue at hand rationally, instead of emotionally. It will allow you to put your state of mind back into its proper place. It gives you the opportunity to choose your attitude as you face the circumstances at hand. Remember that we don't have to do something right now. Go grab a cup of coffee and relax little bit. By doing this you function with you being in control and not the circumstances.

Keep your eye on the goal. A second step in keeping our attitude in the proper place is to make sure we keep the important things important. One of the biggest problems with trouble is that it gets your focus off of where it should be. When I experience difficult circumstances and people ask me how it is going, I tell them, "I am just keeping my eye on the goal." It has always been fascinating to me that when racecar drivers get into trouble, they keep their eyes straight ahead and do not move them away. There is just too much chance of wrecking that way. Instead, their eyes are on the goal, and this keeps them out of trouble. If you find yourself getting down about circumstances, sit down and write out what the goal is. Give some thought to how you can achieve that goal or others you may have.

A man was asked how he was doing and he responded, "Pretty well, under the circumstances." The other man asked, "What are you doing under the circumstances?" Good question. We shouldn't be under the circumstances we should be focused on the goal and moving forward.

Focus on solutions, not problems. The squeaky wheel gets the oil, the old saying goes. Negative circumstances don't sit idly by. They scream for our attention. When we face difficult circumstances, we tend to dwell on them. We talk about them, fret about them, and give them way too much attention. Instead of talking about problems, talk about solutions. Instead of spending your time thinking about how bad things are, think about how good they will be! Don't have family or staff meetings about the problems and how big they are. Have meetings on the solutions and how you will implement them. Don't let yourself or other team members complain. Encourage them to solve, with an emphasis on the positive results that will come from doing so. Then take some time to put these solutions down on paper, so you can monitor your progress.

Get some positive input. The mind tends to build on itself, so when we begin to go in one direction, i.e. worry, it can be a slippery slope. One thing we must do is get our thoughts back on track with positive ideas. When circumstances have got you against the emotional wall, get with a good friend who can encourage you. Listen to a CD by Jim Rohn, Zig Ziglar or another motivational speaker. Pick up a good book and give it a read. Whatever external influence you can get to put your attitude back on the positive side of the tracks - do it! It must be one of our first goals to start plugging good things into our minds to fuel our attitudes.

Tell yourself the good. One of the greatest internal powers we have is the power to control our thoughts. Spend time dwelling on the good things about your life or job instead of the problems. Think about positive things, things you enjoy and give you a sense of happiness and peace. There is an old childhood song that says, "Count your blessings, name them one by one." That is great advice! Let your positive attitude develop from within as well as from without. This makes all the difference!

Remember that circumstances are not forever. Sometimes it seems like we are going to be up to our eyeballs in the situation forever, when in reality, this too shall pass. There will be a time in the future when circumstances will change and you will be on the mountain instead of the valley. This will give you a sense of hope as you live and work that will change your attitude, make you feel better and put you on the fast track for growth!

Some questions as we close:

        Q. Do you have a habit of reflection before responding?
        Q. Do you have a habit of keeping your eye on the goal?
        Q. Do you focus on solutions or problems?
        Q. Do you give yourself positive outside influence?
        Q. Do you have a habit of telling yourself the good?
        Q. Do you remind yourself that nothing is forever?

Ideas Are Your #1 Asset - Tips from a Top Patent Attorney for Protecting Your Ideas and Innovations
by Michael Lechter

When Robert Kiyosaki -- author of the best-selling books "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" and the 'Rich Dad series -- sought the legal services of Michael Lechter, a top intellectual property (IP) and patent attorney with Squire, Sanders & Dempsey in Phoenix, Arizona, he brought with him a prototype of his new board game 'CashFlow 101' and a steely determination not to repeat history.

Twenty years prior, Kiyosaki developed a nylon and Velcro wallet -- dubbed the 'surfer wallet'. Sales exceeded his wildest expectations. But he neglected to protect his invention by securing a patent and, three years later, when competitors stormed the marketplace with 'knock-offs', sales plummeted. The company folded the following year.

Lechter, who has since joined the team of Rich Dad's Advisors and written the book 'Protecting Your #1 Asset," guided Kiyosaki through the legal maze of patent, trademark and copyright protection for the 'Cashflow 101' and 'Cashflow for Kids' games. He encourages all innovators to implement basic strategies to sustain competitive advantages, and ensure that they -- as opposed to competitors -- profit from their innovations.

Five Key Steps:
Lechter details five key steps that every creator of a game or toy -- or any product -- should follow:

Keep contemporaneous records of product development; sign and date each entry, and have it witnessed. There are a number of circumstances which might require proving what you did and when.

Develop a protection strategy. Legal protection mechanisms (trade secrets, utility patents, design patents, trademarks, copyrights, and mask work protection) can be used sequentially and/or concurrently to protect different product aspects.

Consider patent protection early - after you've gone to market is too late in most of the world! In the U.S., an inventor has one year from the first commercialization, or public disclosure of the invention in which to file a patent application.

Most other countries do not have any such grace period. Filing a patent application early in the development cycle of a product can also minimize the time that the product is on the market before a patent is granted.

Consciously build intellectual property into your product. Any distinctive, non-utilitarian aspect of your product can become a trademark including e.g., color schemes (trade dress), non-utilitarian design elements, smell, even sound (music or voice).

Before putting a product on the market, investigate potential adverse third party patents or trademarks. You can do a preliminary investigation online at USPTO.gov. A patent attorney should be consulted for comprehensive investigations.

Lechter, in intellectual property since 1972, is an adjunct professor at Arizona State University and a featured presenter for The Learning Annex. He is committed to educating business owners and entrepreneurs about turning competitive advantages into assets and ensuring that a company's creativity and innovation are its number one assets.

The Wellness Revolution
Paul Zane Pilzer

One seventh, $1.5 trillion, of the U.S. economy today is devoted to the healthcare business, what Paul Zane Pilzer refers to as the "Sickness Industry." However, by the year 2010, an additional $1 trillion of the economy will be devoted to products and services that keep us healthy, make us look or feel better, slow down the effects of aging, and prevent diseases from developing altogether. The implications of the shift to proactive wellness are far reaching from health to beauty to food to medicine.

In 1908, Henry Ford's Model T launched the trillion-dollar automobile industry. In 1981, IBM's PC launched the trillion-dollar personal computer industry, which grew so fast that PC sales surpassed U.S. auto sales in only ten years. The trillion-dollar industry of the twenty-first century has arrived, and it promises to similarly revolutionize our lives and offer entrepreneurs and investors the opportunity to amass great fortunes.

This next big thing is the wellness industry, and The Wellness Revolution shows you how to state your claim now while the market is ripe.

In The Wellness Revolution, best-selling author Paul Zane Pilzer—a world renowned economist, lay rabbi, presidential advisor, college professor, and entrepreneur—shows you how to tap into this next trillion-dollar revolution. Already a $200 billion business, with most of its revenue coming from vitamin sales and health club memberships, the wellness industry is just now taking off. In just ten years, an additional $1 trillion of the U.S. economy will be devoted to providing healthy people products and services to maintain their health.

Whether you're an entrepreneur, investor, or distributor, Pilzer will show you how to get in on the ground floor of this burgeoning industry by explaining:

• The scope and potential of this budding business
• Why the $200 billion in proven demand is only the tip of the iceberg
• How to maintain demand for your wellness products and services
• How to identify new markets, such as Wellness Insurance
• How to make your money in wellness distribution
• How to utilize your assets to choose your best wellness opportunity
• And much, much more

In The Wellness Revolution you'll learn how several entrepreneurs have already built $100 million wellness businesses—people like Steve Demos of Silk soymilk or Jill Kinney of Club One fitness—and why their success is just the tip of the iceberg in this emerging $1 trillion industry.

The wellness industry is on the verge of changing our lives as much as did the automobile and the personal computer. Learn how to reap the benefits of this pervasive and eternal industry with the step-by-step, fortune-making plan detailed in The Wellness Revolution.

Living With Integrity
OFFLINE
This morning as I sat at my desk, I spotted a large hawk in the willow tree behind my home. Two or three small birds, which I believe were sparrows, were driving that hawk nuts! He would get comfortably situated and one of them would dive at him, quickly followed by another. The hawk moved three or four times, but those little birds continued to harass him until he took off for parts unknown.

As I watched this little drama, I was reminded of the difference between the hawk and the eagle. When the eagle is chased by his enemies, instead of ignoring them or trying to avoid them, he flies straight towards the sun. He has special coverings on his eyes, which enable him to look directly at the sun one moment and in the next instant drop his eyes and spot a field mouse far below. He is safe when he heads for the light.

We can relate this example to men and women. Littlepeople--and I do not refer to size--are easily harassed by small incidents in life, bugged by every criticism, and angered at barbs from others. They squirm and become defensive, but this only encourages the barb-throwers to keep after them. Men and women of integrity, however, who are confident within themselves, are not affected by what the "little" people say about them. Like the eagle, they hide from their enemies in the light because they know who they are and what they stand for. They understand that with integrity they have nothing to fear because they have nothing to hide.

I am hopeful the parallel is clear and there's a lesson here we can learn. Live with integrity, hide in the light and I'll SEE YOU AT THE TOP!

BOOKS/LIBRARY/READING
OFFLINE
Miss a meal if you have to, but don't miss a book.

Some people claim that it is okay to read trashy novels because sometimes you can find something valuable in them. You can also find a crust of bread in a garbage can, if you search long enough, but there is a better way.

Most homes valued at over $250,000 have a library. That should tell us something.

Everything you need for your better future and success has already been written. And guess what? It's all available. All you have to do is go to the library. Wow, they must be expensive! No, they're free. And there's probably a library in every neighborhood.

Some people read so little they have rickets of the mind.

I now have one of the better libraries. I admit that I haven't read everything in my library, but I feel smarter just walking
in it.

Don't just read the easy stuff. You may entertained by it, but you will never grow from it.

The book you don't read won't help.

Books are easy to find and easy to buy. A paperback these days only costs six or seven dollars. You can borrow that from your kids!

It isn't what the book costs; it's what it will cost if you don't read it.

10 Ways to Manifest Your Dreams
OFFLINE
1) Keep the END in mind. Ask yourself, what specific quality of life will the object of my desire bring to me? Why do I want this? Will it bring more Love, Harmony, Joy, Peace, Wisdom or Prosperity? Once you identify your real goal, do your best to assimilate that quality without the object and you will be deliberating achieving a vibrational harmony with the object you desired in the first place. When you acquire vibrational harmony or magnetic sameness with your desire – the object of your desire or something better HAS to come into your life – for it is the Law!

2) IDENTIFY what you want. The number one rule to Manifesting your Dreams is to "keep your eye on the ball." The Universe does not process negatives – only energy. Therefore the question to ponder is what do you want? The question is NOT – what do I not want – except to identify more of what you DO want.

3) EXPECT your dreams to come true. Expectation propels your desire and opens the runway for your dreams to land quickly, easily and gently. Additionally, with expectation as your fire, you will be less likely to run out of "desire fuel"!

4) IMAGINE it in the now. Imagine how it FEELS to have what you desire RIGHT NOW! Abraham through Jerry and Esther Hicks says, "Your point of attraction is now." Therefore, whatever you are feeling and focused upon right now is what you are in vibrational harmony with and are attracting into your life.

5) Be ENERGY efficient - be conscious of your "energy." Keep in mind that like energy attracts like energy - therefore "what you sow you shall reap." Feeling the lack of something only attracts more "lack of that something." On the other hand, deliberately choosing positive feelings and focal points will keep you in alignment with your desires.

6) Maintain a LASER FOCUS on what you want. Give it your attention. Use tools such as setting goals, writing and repeating affirmations, visualization, gratitude journalizing, creative collage, treasure mapping, creation wheels and meditation. Relax, listen to yourself, state the affirmation and visualize the accompanying action and feeling. Remember, "Wherever you go, there you are!" - therefore, BE mentally and emotionally where you want to GO physically.

7) Be UNATTACHED. Maintain your desires but be unattached to the specifics of the outcome. Never limit the Universe by being disappointed if it isn’t in your life right now or isn’t coming as fast as you think it should. Be careful of being attached to the how, when, where, and who details. Turn it over to God and release your dream with statements such as – this or something better is manifesting in my life right now. I let it go and prepare to receive my good. ALLOW the universe to let it flow to you—easily!

8) Go on an APPRECIATION RAMPAGE and preserve an ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE. Relish the moment and be appreciative of all that you have. Be aware of every opportunity that comes your way and honor where you are on your path. Look at each experience as neither good nor bad, but as an opportunity to learn and grow. Don’t scold yourself when you make a mistake. Develop an affirmative statement, describing your correct performance, in the present tense and allow your light to shine! See through the eyes of love. Choose to live in joy and spread it to all you meet!

9) Let Go of the PAST and follow your HEART! Once and for all. Release the fears and prejudices that come from previous experiences. "Heaven’s not beyond the clouds…it’s just beyond our fears." Regret and fear are the thieves that rob us of today. Accept responsibility for your life. Know that there are no victims. This means really forgive and forget, live without opinions, throw out your old baggage and live fully present in the moment at hand while following your heart’s guidance and desires for tomorrow. Your heart will never speak in fear – only in love. Follow your heart and you will have all that you desire.

10) DREAM BIG! Ask for more than you "need." You are the child of a rich father in heaven – claim your Divine birthright to unlimited Prosperity, Peace, Joy, Love and Harmony. Ask for all that you desire (in alignment with your values) and have the faith to relax and enjoy the journey. "I tell you the Truth, If ye have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, move from here to there: And it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." Matthew 17:20

Faith Is a State of Mind Which May Be Induced by Autosuggestion.

Have faith in yourself; faith in the Infinite.

Faith is the “eternal elixir” which gives life, power, and action to the impulse of thought!

(The foregoing sentence is worth reading a second time, and a third, and a fourth. It is worth reading aloud!).

Faith is the basis of all “miracles,” and all mysteries which cannot be analyzed by the rules of science!

Faith is the only known antidote for failure!

Faith is the element, the “chemical” which when mixed with prayer, gives one direct communication with Infinite Intelligence.

Faith is the element which transforms the ordinary vibration of thought, created by the finite mind of man, into the spiritual equivalent.

Faith is the only agency through which the cosmic force of Infinite Intelligence can be harnessed and used by man.

It is a well-known fact that one comes, finally, to believe whatever one repeats to one’s self, whether the statement be true or false. If a man repeats a lie over and over, he will eventually accept the lie as truth. Moreover, he will believe it to be the truth. Every man is what he is because of the dominating thoughts which he permits to occupy his mind. Thoughts which a man deliberately places in his own mind, and encourages with sympathy, and with which he mixes any one or more of the emotions, constitute the motivating forces which direct and control his every movement, act, and deed!

Comes, now, a very significant statement of truth:

Thoughts which are mixed with any of the feelings of emotions constitute a “magnetic” force which attracts other similar or related thoughts.

SUCCESS IS FOCUSING ON THE BASICS
OFFLINE
To build a very successful business, you really only need to concentrate on three things:

1) USING THE PRODUCT - This is important because using the product creates health results which creates an emotional attachment. Using the product gets people to be passionate and believe in the product, which is the key to building the business. Everyone should be using the product 1-2 times per day.

2) TALKING TO PEOPLE - This is a big one. Once you feel passionate about the product, the key is to share the Legacy message with lots of people! Talking to people is the single greatest key to your success. The more people you talk to, the luckier you will get. Set a goal to talk to 10-20 people a day.

3) USE THE TOOLS - The key to building a nice check is to get a lot of people "doing what you're doing". This is made easier with tools like our flash presentation, cassette tape, general website, etc. Rather than you trying to present everything, when talking to people, simply direct them to the tools and let the tools do the selling.

By concentrating on using the product, talking to lots of people, and using the tools - and teaching this to all your team - you grow in leaps and bounds. Be as consistent as possible and we'll see you on the beaches of the world!

Remember - the key is to keep everything simple, easy and fun!

Zig Ziglar On Overcoming Fear!
OFFLINE
by Zig Ziglar

Fear has been correctly identified with the acrostic False Evidence Appearing Real. The truth is that if we think something is to be feared, that perception becomes the cruelest form of reality.

A second-grade boy was overheard saying, "It's easy to be brave when you're not scared." By the same token, it's easy to talk about how to overcome fear when you have little to be afraid of.

Fear is certainly real for most people and all of us face a fear of something--poverty, divorce, rejection, death, failure, speaking in public, being laughed at, etc.

How do we overcome fear? First we must learn to examine our fears. Example: Giving a speech, which is the number one fear in our country, according to Reader's Digest. If that's your fear, ask yourself a few questions. "Why am I afraid to make a speech? Is it because I'm afraid of being rejected? Then why do I think I'll be rejected? Do I believe what I'm about to say? Is my speech worth giving? Am I proud of the comments I'm about to make?"

As you ask yourself these questions, the fear will begin to subside. It subsides because you have explored your subconscious mind with your questions and flushed out some of your fears.

My research indicates that only three people have died while making a speech. Since 12 billion people have lived and only three of them died making a speech, I'd say it's a fairly safe thing to do. If you're a little nervous, consider this: You could lead a mule into a crowded room and he would be so calm that he would almost go to sleep standing up. A thoroughbred in the same situation would be as nervous as a cat. If you're a little nervous, just be grateful you're a thoroughbred--not a mule.

So face those inner feelings, stand up and speak up with confidence. When you do, I'll SEE YOU AT THE TOP!

Most humans!
OFFLINE
Most humans, in varying degrees, are already dead. In one way or another they have lost their dreams, their ambitions, their desire for a better life. They have surrendered their fight for self-esteem and they have compromised their great potential. They have settled for a life of mediocrity, days of despair, and nights of tears. They are no more than living deaths confined to cemeteries of their choice. Yet they need not remain in that state. They can be resurrected from their sorry condition. They can each perform the greatest miracle in the world. They can each come back from the dead. . ."

Skills Make Labor More Valuable
OFFLINE
As you know by now, if you have been a long time subscriber to our weekly E-zine, I'm a very big proponent of activity, labor and discipline. In fact I devoted one of the five major pieces to the life puzzle (in my book under the same name) to the subject of activity and labor. But now let me add another key word to the labor equation - skillful. Yes, skillful labor.

We need the skills to help build our family's dreams, the skills to stir up an enterprise and make it successful. We need skills to build equities for the future. We need skills of all kinds.

How about this - skillful language. If you just talk to your family you can hold them all together, but if you skillfully talk to your children you can help them build dreams for the future. That is why I spend so much time at the Weekend Seminar on communication - how to affect others with words. You can't be lazy in language - it costs too much. What if you meant to say "what's troubling you?" and instead you said "what's wrong with you?". Wow, that's too big a mistake. And sure you could have made that mistake 10 years ago, but not now. You should have gotten much better by now in language and communication.

Skills multiply labor by two, by five, by ten, by fifty, by one hundred times. Hey, you can chop a tree down with a hammer but it takes about 30 days, called labor. But if you trade the hammer in for an ax, you can chop the tree down in about 30 minutes. What's the difference in 30 days and 30 minutes? Skills. Skills made the difference.

So do what you can - labor. But also do the best that you can do – improved skills. And you will find that the labor combined with skills will start producing miracles. Miracles with your money, miracles with your family and miracles in every part of your life.

To Your Success,
Jim Rohn

Preparation for Your Presentations
OFFLINE
Adapted from the Jim Rohn Weekend Event - Excelling in the New Millennium

Persistence in your presentations, this is one secret to success. After my first presentation, I got up and did it again. Even though I was scared to death, I did it again. And that second one wasn’t too good, but guess what. I did it again, and I did it again. And I worked up my courage, and I did it again. I committed to it, and I did it again. And finally, it got to be a little bit easier. I got a little more acquainted with the art of presenting. So have something good to say in your presentations. Preparation for your presentations, this is another key aspect. Here are some words to help you in preparation.

To prepare to have something good to say, keep a keen interest in life and people. Don’t let your senses go dull here. Guess what most people are trying to do – get THROUGH the day. Here is what I am asking this unusual audience to do – get FROM the day. Get from the day a clear picture of the drama of human life – some doing is right, some doing is wrong. Some gathering in; some throwing it away. Some building reputations; some letting it all slide.

Get from the day what is happening in politics. Read the newspapers. Read the magazines. Find out what’s going on. Get from the periodicals. Get from what’s happening. Get from your job. Get from your career. Get from the people around you. What is happening in the community? Get from all of that. The positive side, the negative side.

My parents used to say, “Attend everything.” Some things are so costly; they might be out of reach for a while. Andrea Bocelli came to Beverly Hills. Guess what the tickets cost? $2500.00 for a two-hour performance. That is pretty good pay. So some things might be out of reach, but whatever you can go to, get to. Save up the money and go, so that you will be more aware of what is going on around you.

Keep up that interest in people. Why do they do what they do? How come things are happening today that didn’t happen thirty years ago?

Now the next word is fascination. Be fascinated with life and people and drama that is live and in color every day. Cinemascope. Fascination goes a little bit beyond interest. Interested people want to know does it work. Fascinated people want to know how does it work.

Kids have this unique ability to learn several languages in a six, seven-year period, and the reason is because they are so fascinated. They are so interested. They are so curious. Kids have to know, and that is how the drama of their learning takes on such speed in a fairly short period of time is because of this unusual interest and fascination and curiosity. We’re walking on ants, and kids are studying them. They say, “Don’t walk on those ants. I’m studying them.” How come an ant can carry something bigger than they are? That is a good question. They must be unbelievably strong if they can carry something bigger than they are.

Here is something else I’ve learned. To be fascinated instead of frustrated. It is just a little trick to play. The next time you’re tempted to be frustrated, see if you can’t turn it into fascination. Instead of a frown, it puts a smile on your face. Now sometimes you look a little weird, but so be it. He says, “How can he smile?” I don’t know. He must be somebody different.

Babe Ruth – Home Run King – back in those days of baseball used to strike out and come back to the bench smiling. They used to say, “Babe, you just struck out. How can you smile?” “I’m just that much closer to my next home run. Just stick around. It won’t be long. One will be sailing over the fence.” So find things fascinating instead of frustrating. Just try it. I’ve learned how to do it. Now make this note. It doesn’t work every time. Nothing works every time, but every time you can get it to work, guess what? It will benefit your day. You’ll get more from it. You’ll be fascinated instead of frustrated.

Now I’ve also learned the ultimate. I’m fascinated by my own frustration. How come it doesn’t take me long to loose it on occasion? It must be from my father’s side. My mother was a gentle soul. Just find it all fascinating. I’ve talked to a lot of the Network Marketing companies over the years, and I give them that little clue. Somebody joins and you think they’re going to stay forever, and they leave right away. You have to say, “Isn’t that interesting?” And someone you thought would never make it, sure enough they become superstars. You have to say, “Isn’t that interesting?” You say, “I thought they’d stay forever, they don’t stay. Isn’t that interesting. I didn’t think they’d do anything, look what they’re doing. Isn’t that interesting?”

So that is a good phrase. Find it interesting. Find it fascinating. Wow, I never thought that would happen. I had another picture in mind. Wow! Was I ever wrong. And it’s good sometimes to be wrong on the positive side. I didn’t think it was going to work, and it worked. Say, “What if somebody doesn’t look at your business opportunity?” Say, “What if they do?” It doesn’t take much to turn the question around. Say, “What if they won’t join after they look?” “What if they do? What if they join and stay.” But I’ve got a better question, “What if they do stay?” “What if they quit after three months?” I have a better question, “What if they stay?”

So sometimes little tricks you can play to give yourself a different look because somebody could either stay or leave and wouldn’t it be better to assume that they would stay and then if they leave say, “Isn’t that interesting?” I have learned to do that with myself. “Wow! Look what I did. Isn’t that interesting? Wow! I thought I was going to behave better. Wow! I lost it. Isn’t that interesting? I thought for sure that wasn’t going to bother me. Sure enough. I thought I had a handle on this. Looks like I’ve got some work to do.” Find yourself fascinating and interesting as you journey through life. Give yourself a chance.

Now here is the next word that is very important if you want to be a good communicator, and that is sensitivity. Sensitive to someone’s drama and trouble and difficulty. As you contemplate your own, now you can be sensitive to someone else. And there is no better way to be helpful than to do your best to try and understand. Here is the old phrase we’ve heard it, let’s jot it down this time. “Learn to walk in someone’s shoes for a while. Try to understand where they are.” How come they’re in this dilemma? Maybe it’s something I don’t know. I don’t understand. How come this person is losing his temper when he should keep it? Who knows what might have happened the last three weeks. I don’t know. Let’s give somebody room by trying to understand.

Be sensitive to someone lashing out and being difficult at the time. Hey! We can handle that. We don’t have to retaliate and fight back. Can’t we say, “Maybe there’s a good reason this person behaves in this way.” That is an easier way. Sensitivity. Trying to understand. Trying to comprehend the full drama of human experience. One of the greatest phrases in the Bible, “Blessed are the peacemakers.” Guess what a peacemaker is? Someone that you hope is around when the conflict could be resolved. Someone who understands both sides and brings them together. Say, “I know you’ve got some animosity, but now that you’ve fought and that didn’t settle it…couldn’t we get together and reason this whole thing out.

So in times of conflict, we look for a peacemaker. And the peacemaker has to understand both sides of the issue. Say, “I understand your dilemma, and I can see where you’re coming from, and I can understand why you said what you said then you said what you said. But hey! Isn’t there a better way? Couldn’t we find a better way to settle it all?” And that is what we are looking for.

Parents have to learn to be peacemakers when there are two sides to an issue and maybe neither one is that far wrong. But to try to settle it, we have to understand both sides. We have to understand the feelings on both sides, and that kind of sensitivity gives us a wonderful opportunity to grow, so that we can communicate and our words will be meaningful. Then the test comes, and the drama comes and the time comes to step up and speak or to sit down and speak or to be quiet and speak or to be loud and speak. Whatever that might call for, we’ll be prepared if we do have a genuine understanding. So preparation in all areas of life is so vital to your success. Don’t be lazy in preparing; don’t be lazy in laying the groundwork that will make all of the difference in how your life turns out.

To Your Success,
Jim Rohn

Become a Good Observer
OFFLINE
We must never allow a day to pass without finding the answers to a list of important questions such as: What is going on in our industry? What new challenges are currently facing our government? Our community? Our neighborhood? What are the new breakthroughs, the new opportunities, the new tools and techniques that have recently come to light? Who are the new personalities that are influencing world and local opinion?

We must become good observers and astute evaluators of all that is going on around us. All events affect us, and what affects us leaves an imprint on what we will one day be and how we will one day live.

One of the major reasons why people are not doing well is because they keep trying to get through the day. A more worthy challenge is to try to get from the day. We must become sensitive enough to observe and ponder what is happening around us. Be alert. Be awake. Let life and all of its subtle messages touch us. Often, the most extraordinary opportunities are hidden among the seemingly insignificant events of life. If we do not pay attention to these events, we can easily miss the opportunities.

So be a good observer of both life and the world around you.

A Dollar and Some Ambition
OFFLINE
Each of us has two distinct choices to make about what we will do with our lives. The first choice we can make is to be less than we have the capacity to be. To earn less. To have less. To read less and think less. To try less and discipline ourselves less. These are the choices that lead to an empty life. These are the choices that, once made, lead to a life of constant apprehension instead of a life of wondrous anticipation.

And the second choice? To do it all! To become all that we can possibly be. To read every book that we possibly can. To earn as much as we possibly can. To give and share as much as we possibly can. To strive and produce and accomplish as much as we possibly can. All of us have the choice. To do or not to do. To be or not to be. To be all or to be less or to be nothing at all.

Like the tree, it would be a worthy challenge for us all to stretch upward and outward to the full measure of our capabilities. Why not do all that we can, every moment that we can, the best that we can, for as long as we can?

Our ultimate life objective should be to create as much as our talent and ability and desire will permit. To settle for doing less than we could do is to fail in this worthiest of undertakings.

Results are the best measurement of human progress. Not conversation. Not explanation. Not justification. Results! And if our results are less than our potential suggests that they should be, then we must strive to become more today than we were the day before. The greatest rewards are always reserved for those who bring great value to themselves and the world around them as a result of who and what they have become.

Success is Easy, But so is Neglect
OFFLINE
People often ask me how I became successful in that six-year period of time while many of the people I knew did not. The answer is simple: The things I found to be easy to do, they found to be easy not to do. I found it easy to set the goals that could change my life. They found it easy not to. I found it easy to read the books that could affect my thinking and my ideas. They found that easy not to. I found it easy to attend the classes and the seminars, and to get around other successful people. They said it probably really wouldn't matter. If I had to sum it up, I would say what I found to be easy to do, they found to be easy not to do. Six years later, I'm a millionaire and they are all still blaming the economy, the government and company policies, yet they neglected to do the basic, easy things.

In fact, the primary reason most people are not doing as well as they could and should, can be summed up in a single word: neglect.

It is not the lack of money - banks are full of money. It is not the lack of opportunity - America, and much of the free World, continues to offer the most unprecedented and abundant opportunities in the last six thousand years of recorded history. It is not the lack of books – libraries are full of books - and they are free! It is not the schools - the classrooms are full of good teachers. We have plenty of ministers, leaders, counselors and advisors.

Everything we would ever need to become rich and powerful and sophisticated is within our reach. The major reason that so few take advantage of all that we have is simply, neglect.

Neglect is like an infection. Left unchecked it will spread throughout our entire system of disciplines and eventually lead to a complete breakdown of a potentially joy-filled and prosperous human life.

Not doing the things we know we should do causes us to feel guilty and guilt leads to an erosion of self-confidence. As our self-confidence diminishes, so does the level of our activity. And as our activity diminishes, our results inevitably decline. And as our results suffer, our attitude begins to weaken. And as our attitude begins the slow shift from positive to negative, our self-confidence diminishes even more ... and on and on it goes.

So my suggestion is that when giving the choice of "easy to" and "easy not to" that you do not neglect to do the simple, basic, "easy"; but potentially life-changing activities and disciplines.

To Your Success,
Jim Rohn

Change Begins With Choice
OFFLINE
Any day we wish; we can discipline ourselves to change it all. Any day we wish; we can open the book that will open our mind to new knowledge. Any day we wish; we can start a new activity. Any day we wish; we can start the process of life change. We can do it immediately, or next week, or next month, or next year.

We can also do nothing. We can pretend rather than perform. And if the idea of having to change ourselves makes us uncomfortable, we can remain as we are. We can choose rest over labor, entertainment over education, delusion over truth, and doubt over confidence. The choices are ours to make. But while we curse the effect, we continue to nourish the cause. As Shakespeare uniquely observed, "The fault is not in the stars, but in ourselves." We created our circumstances by our past choices. We have both the ability and the responsibility to make better choices beginning today. Those who are in search of the good life do not need more answers or more time to think things over to reach better conclusions. They need the truth. They need the whole truth. And they need nothing but the truth.

We cannot allow our errors in judgment, repeated every day, to lead us down the wrong path. We must keep coming back to those basics that make the biggest difference in how our life works out. And then we must make the very choices that will bring life, happiness and joy into our daily lives.

And if I may be so bold to offer my last piece of advice for someone seeking and needing to make changes in their life - If you don't like how things are, change it! You're not a tree. You have the ability to totally transform every area in your life - and it all begins with your very own power of choice.

To Your Success,
Jim Rohn

Start Living in Prime Time
OFFLINE
Start Living in Prime Time
by Denis Waitley

Prime time is that period between 6 and 10 p.m. during which most of the general public watches television. Commercials in prime time are the most expensive, approaching a million dollars per minute. Your real success in life will take a quantum leap when you stop watching other people making money in their professions performing in prime time, and start living your own dreams and goals in prime time. Time is the ultimate equal opportunity employer. Time never stops to rest, never hesitates, never looks forward or backward. Life's raw material spends itself in the now, this moment, which is why how you spend your time is far more important than all the material possessions you may own or positions you may obtain. Positions change, possessions come and go, you can earn more money. You can renew your supply of many things, but like good health, that other most precious resource, time spent is gone forever.

Each yesterday, and all of them together, are beyond your control. Literally all the money in the world can't undo or redo a single act you performed. You cannot erase a single word you said. You can't add an "I love you," "I'm sorry", or "I forgive you", not even a "thank you" you forgot to say. Each human being in every hemisphere and time zone has precisely 168 hours a week to spend. And some of the most precious hours occur in prime time.

Consider this: most of your daytime hours are spent helping other people solve their problems. The little time you have in the evenings and on weekends is all you have to spend on yourself, on your own dreams and goals, and personal development. Some thoughts to ponder:

- Have supper with your loved ones at least two to three times per week. It's the best time for casual conversation to listen to what those close to you feel is important in their lives. Mealtime is a time to dialogue.

- A television set is an appliance. It should be used, at most, for two hours at a time. It should be off, unless specific programs of interest are selected. It should not be used as a one-eyed baby sitter. For the most part, TV exposes us to negative role models.

- Instead of watching television why not read a good fiction or non-fiction book, write a letter, engage in a hobby or craft, call a friend or someone in need of encouragement on the phone, network on your computer, go out to an ethnic restaurant, a home show, an entrepreneurial show, a musical recital, a play, a fitness class, or cultural event. Take an art or photography class. Use prime time to live the kind of life others put on layaway.

Action Idea: If you and your family/friends watch TV, try not turning it on for one week. When you do watch TV, reduce by 50% the amount of time you spend watching it. Concentrate your evenings and free time engaged in hands on, real life experiences, you can touch, feel, smell and engage all your senses in. Instead of virtual reality, insist on the real thing.

Goals/Goal Setting by Jim Rohn

The major reason for setting a goal is for what it makes of you to accomplish it. What it makes of you will always be the far greater value than what you get.

When Andrew Carnegie died, they discovered a sheet of paper upon which he had written one of the major goals of his life: to spend the first half of his life accumulating money and to spend the last half of his life giving it all away. And he did!

Some people are disturbed by those tough days because all they have is the days. They haven't designed or described or defined the future.

Goals. There's no telling what you can do when you get inspired by them. There's no telling what you can do when you believe in them. And there's no telling what will happen when you act upon them.

We all need lots of powerful long-range goals to help us past the short-term obstacles.

The ultimate reason for setting goals is to entice you to become the person it takes to achieve them.

Don't set your goals too low. If you don't need much, you won't become much.

If you go to work on your goals, your goals will go to work on you. If you go to work on your plan, your plan will go to work on you. Whatever good things we build end up building us.

We all have two choices: We can make a living or we can design a life.

If we are involved in a project, how hard should we work at it? How much time should we put in?

Our philosophy about activity and our attitude about hard work will affect the quality of our lives. What we decide about the rightful ratio of labor to rest will establish a certain work ethic. That work ethic - our attitude about the amount of labor we are willing to commit to future fortune - will determine how substantial or how meager that fortune turns out to be.

Enterprise is always better than ease. Every time we choose to do less than we could, this error in judgment has an effect on our self-confidence. Repeated every day, we soon find ourselves not only doing less than we should, but also being less than we could. The accumulative effect of this error in judgment can be devastating.

--- Fortunately, It Is Easy To Reverse The Process ---

Any day we choose we can develop a new discipline of doing rather than neglecting. Every time we choose action over ease or labor over rest, we develop an increasing level of self-worth, self-respect and self-confidence. In the final analysis, it is how we feel about ourselves that provides the greatest reward from any activity. It is not what we get that makes us valuable, it is what we become in the process of doing that brings value into our lives. It is activity that converts human dreams into human reality, and that conversion from idea into actuality gives us a personal value that can come from no other source.

So feel free to not only engage in enterprise, but also to enjoy it to it's fullest along with all the benefits that are soon to come!

To Your Success,
Jim Rohn

A Good Team Fit — It’s Not Just for Baseball Anym
OFFLINE
The average American works more than 50 hours a week at their job. This means most people spend as much (or more) time with their co-workers as they do with their spouse, significant other, family members and even beloved pets!

With so much time spent on the job, it’s easy to see how relationships cultivated at work are vital to the overall mission of your company and your own well being. In fact, in today’s economy, good team integration is an absolute necessity for overall success.

The strength of Tony Robbins’ success has integral to the quality of the people he has found to fill the ranks in his own businesses. He is an extraordinary businessman and entrepreneur, but he learned very early in his career that in order to maintain his success, he would have to find outstanding people to work with him. No one person can do everything and finding quality people who work well within your organization is a huge challenge, however it is definitely one worth spending time and resources on, because it literally can determine the success or failure of your business.

When hiring people, please remember that choosing good employees goes far beyond evaluating skill sets and experience. It is important to also focus on how they are going to fit into the working environment of your team and your company as a whole. As an old proverb states, a house divided will not stand. Here are some key principles Tony has developed to keep your team standing tall, strong and steady:

1. Can the candidate do the job?
Do they have the skills, talents, abilities, and experience to be capable of handling the position?

2. Will the candidate do the job?
Do they have the desire to support your company in its mission? Are the outcomes of the company and position in line with the candidate’s personal aspirations?

3. How will the candidate fit in with the overall company environment?
Introduce them to other employees. Let them talk with team members in a relaxed environment (like having a casual lunch or going for coffee together) and later ask the current team how they feel about the candidate’s potential for fitting into their established working group.

Other ways of accessing team fit is to ask your candidate open-ended questions during the interview process. A word of caution, though: be careful not to broadcast your needs and wants during an interview as candidates may end up telling you what you want to hear rather than revealing what they are really all about.

The following interview questions can help you discern information about candidates without leading them toward certain answers. These can be very helpful in figuring out what type of person a candidate is, and whether their personality will be a good team fit.

What are the keys to your prior successes?

What are some of your personal and professional goals?

How do you like to be managed?

What’s the best way to approach you?

What do you do when you’re not working?
How would your best friend (or former manager) describe you?

Some of the most important aspects to keep your eyes and ears open for during the interview are clues a candidate may give about their attitude, philosophy, personality type, mission, and pace.

Believe it or not, pace is extremely important, yet it is frequently overlooked during the interview process. It’s crucial to hire people who will be able to work at the real-time pace of your company’s environment. If you hire someone who is used to running at a million miles a minute, but you run a methodical office with an exacting pace, how successful do you think that person will really be? On the other hand, if you have a high-stress, fast-moving office environment, and you hire someone who really values having time to process information, not only with the new hire likely get frustrated, but so will your entire office team!

A candidate may have all the requisite skills and the desire to do the work, but the success or failure of the team and the individual is rooted in the relationships that are built amongst the group.

In the hiring process, it is your responsibility to the success of your company, work groups, and the candidate to ensure—to the best of your ability—that this hire will be a good team fit to your organization. Also, keep in mind, this concept is just as important in personal relationships as well. As Tony discusses at Date with Destiny—you want to make sure that all of the people you create relationships with can do, will do, and are a good team fit!

Job stress, burnout on the rise!
OFFLINE
Layoffs, long hours taking their toll on workers.

WITH MASS LAYOFFS, pay cuts, seemingly endless workdays and disappearing vacations, Americans are coping with an enormous amount of job stress. Feeling unable to keep up with the demands of their jobs, many are reaching burnout levels.

In its series on “How we work: Punching the clock in the new economy,” MSNBC.com has chronicled Americans who are toiling longer and harder at their jobs. While fewer people working longer days may be good for profit-minded corporations, those increases in productivity can come at a price for individuals.

“As the workforce has shrunk, people are overloaded and stress is the result,” says Ronald Downey, Kansas State University professor of Industrial and Occupational Psychology. “If the stress keeps on unending, then they’re in trouble.”

Trouble starts when employees take on more job responsibilities, but lose their sense of control over their work. Working excessively long hours begins to take a heavy toll on family life and social relationships, adding to the stress level, researchers say.

It’s well-known that stress can lead to hypertension, cardiovascular disease, heart attacks and other physical ailments, research indicates.

Early signs of job stress are headaches, short tempers, trouble sleeping and low morale, according to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).

And it’s not just physical health. An estimated 60 percent of work absences are from psychological problems — at a cost of over $57 billion yearly — according to the American Psychological Association.

“People don’t have enough time to do the things they’re being asked to do,” says Dr. Ron Restak, an expert in brain function and author of The New Brain.

Too much multi-tasking leads to distraction and a loss of concentration. “You cannot accomplish two things at the same time as efficiently as you would if you were doing them separately. A lot of accidents and a loss of efficiency can occur from that,” says Restak.

In fact, health costs are almost 50 percent greater for workers who report high levels of stress, according to the Journal of Occupational and Environment Medicine.
“Body systems start to fail,” says Downey. “Then you have stress syndrome and you break down.”

A FATAL WORK ETHIC
In Japan, it’s known as “karoshi,” or death from overwork. The Japanese government has reported 10,000 cases a year of managers, executives and engineers who have died from overwork, a fallout of the country’s prolonged economic slump.

It’s hard to say whether it’s reached that extreme in the U.S., but the number of full-or part-timers who report high job stress rose to 45 percent in 2002, up from 37 percent the year before, according to a NIOSH study. An estimated 40 percent of U.S. workers reported their job was very or extremely stressful, with 25 percent calling their jobs the number one stress factor in their lives, the organization reported.

Everyone reacts to stress in different ways and recognizing when you’re reaching burnout levels can be difficult, says Dr. Jeffrey Kahn, clinical associate professor of psychiatry at Cornell.

“The most stressed-out ones don’t know they’re having problems,” says Kahn, who is also president of WorkPsych Associates, a New York executive and corporate consulting firm. “They don’t realize that things are getting to them.”

Increased absenteeism isn’t always a giveaway. The new buzzword is “presenteeism” which happens when people are too afraid to call in sick. Instead they show up, but are still too stressed-out to be productive, says Dr. Richard Chaifetz, chairman and chief executive of ComPsych, a Chicago firm which provides human resources services.

“A lot of people realize it’s better to show up and be less than 100 percent productive,” says Chaifetz. “But if they’re not focused, their performance will go down.”

NO ESCAPE
Much of the problem comes from the blurring of the lines between work and home life, with workers tethered to their jobs through cell phones, pagers and e-mail, researchers say. An estimated 70 percent of more than 1,500 participants felt they don’t have a healthy balance between their work and their personal lives, according to a May survey on work/life balance by online job board TrueCareers.

“There are no clear demarcations anymore,” says Restak. “When people left work for the day, that was it. Employers were reluctant to call them at home. No people don’t feel like they’re ever off duty.”

Household with two working parents or single parent households are especially vulnerable to burnout from work overload, says professor Downey.

“Before, men didn’t have to worry about meals or their kids and it relieved pressure,” says Downey. “Now men and women are worried about their children if they’re sick and how to get to games.”

Not all job-related stress leads to burnout. For some workaholic types, boasting of burnout is an ego-booster, a macho way to feel indispensable in an otherwise bleak jobs market, say experts.

For them, “it’s almost a badge of courage,” says Dr. Rosch, president of the American Institute of Stress in Yonkers, N.Y.

“Some people thrive in a pressure cooker and doing many things at once,” he says.

DESK SLAVES, FREE YOURSELVES
Even as American workers are putting in more hours, a genre of anti-work ethic books has emerged, including such publications as Work to Live: The Guide to Getting a Life, by Joe Robinson and The Importance of Being Lazy: In Praise of Play, Leisure and Vacations, by Al Gini.

Meanwhile, some corporations are making efforts to alleviate overwork by offering paid sabbaticals or on-site classes in meditation to help employees deal with long days.

“The consequence of burnout is that productivity begins to slip,” says Chaifetz. “The smart organizations are the ones that can balance the needs for increased productivity with appropriate employee morale.”

Jeffrey Pfeffer, professor at the Graduate School of Business, Stanford University, says American companies who want to compete in a global economy should follow the European model of shorter workweeks and month-long vacations.

“There is no evidence that excessive hours are necessary for competitive success,” says Pfeffer. “But somehow we’ve gotten in our minds that to succeed in this world is to work yourself to death.”

Residual Income, Residual Impact
OFFLINE
Residual Income, Residual Impact
THERE'S A REASON WE EARN THE BIG BUCKS
By JOHN DAVID MANN

One of the great promises of this business is something called "residual income." What does this arcane phrase actually mean - and why does this business give it to us?

The word "residual" means "left over." Residual income is that income which is the residue of one's initial efforts - the results that are left behind after the doing is done.

Royalties
A more familiar concept - and for that reason, a perhaps clearer one - is the idea of earning "royalties." The concept originated with the monarchy. Kings and queens (royalty - get it?) were paid in residue for a variety of things: land they owned, tribute, use of resources under their control, services they provided (armies, for instance) ... or, hey, just for being monarchy.

In these democratic days, royalties are a bit less high-handed. A royalty is income that is paid for a duplicated effort. Authors, inventors, actors, and performers of many kinds earn ongoing royalties from their work.

Create a popular song, and every time a CD is sold or your song is performed, you'll receive a royalty payment. Even long after your initial effort in creating the song is expended, so long as it's being sold - through performance, CD sales, use on movie soundtracks or TV commercials, you name it - you earn the royalty.

Residual Income: Free At Last
The residual income in network marketing is income you continue to earn based on the productivity of your initial business-building efforts. This income (in a legitimate network marketing program) is a reflection (commission) of actual sales of products or services generated by the network organization you helped create and develop. In a sense, it is a royalty - and you're the king or queen who's being compensated for the profits of your far-flung king- or queendom.

Residual income is desirable because, like the songwriter's or author's earnings, it's an income stream that continues long after you've completed your initial efforts. In other words, you no longer have to do anything new to generate it. The checks keep coming as long as sales are being made. In a word: freedom.

Of course, there are some conditions that must exist in order for you to actually enter such a blissful state of residual keep. First of all, the company who issues your "royalty" checks must remain in business. (As the ancient knight says in Indiana Jones III, "Choose wisely.")

What's more, the products or services must continuously generate repeat sales. Historically, the favored choice for residual income in network marketing is a consumable product in great demand, with the ongoing support of successful new product development.

Understand: we are not compensated for the sheer act of recruiting. It's doesn't work to base your future income on more and more new people coming into the program. An unhealthy emphasis on recruiting (especially with hefty buy-ins or high-commission "startup packages") and large-volume purchases (the infamous "front loading" ploy) are common symptoms of poor repeat-sales potential. Neither dodge works - at least, not for long. Genuine residual income comes from legitimate sales made by the men and women in your group.

A third condition upon which your royalties rely is the strength - that is, the enduring strength - of the network you build. That is a function of leadership - which brings us to residual impact.

Residual Impact
Residual impact is just like the residual income that writers, artists, inventors, and performers have, except it's the impact their work creates, not the income.

To have an impact, one must influence with power and velocity. The impact of the industrial revolution is an example. The influence of the Internet is another. The impact of a Ghandi, a Schweitzer, or a Charlie Chaplin is yet another.

Residual impact is impact that reverberates long after your initial efforts have ceased. For a writer, it would be authoring a best-selling book or even a classic.

Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, and the Beatles have all given us the residual impact of their music. There are numerous examples of great performances (Bogart and Bergman in Casablanca) and great inventions (the light bulb and the computer) that have had and will continue to have an enduring residual impact on billions of people.

Earning Residual Impact
You create residual impact the same way you earn residual income: investing your time, energy, and effort in other people.

What's the primary benefit of network marketing over direct or conventional sales? Residual income. The same is true of residual impact. By enrolling, training, and leading a network of men and women to success, you have a direct residual impact on their lives and work, the lives of their children and other family and friends, the lives of countless retail customers who benefit from the product, and the lives of all of the future generations of men and women they will sponsor.

Residual impact takes many forms. Each one serves by making a positive (even life-changing) difference in people's lives.

In addition, as the network marketing industry expands and prospers, you will play a part in bringing to light a major shift in the way of life and work of our world.

Too much? Not really.
Imagine the powerful model of "can-do-ness" President Kennedy thrust into the American consciousness when he declared the country's intention to put a man on the moon within 10 years. Everybody enrolled in that dream. The entire nation watched its progress with interest and ownership. When the deed was done, we felt the pride of our own accomplishment. That's residual impact on a national, even global scale.

Showing the world how network marketing honors people's values and purpose as no other industry in history has, proving that ordinary people can live extraordinary lives, offering the world a model for personal and financial freedom, smashing the "glass ceiling," providing much needed leadership for the future - these are all powerful pieces of a model of possibility for a world in great need of all that is good and true about our industry. Again, residual impact - on a global scale.

Turning Time Into Money - and Money Into Time
Benjamin Franklin once observed that he had spent his first 40 years turning his time into money and his second 40 years turning his money back into time. Franklin had built a large enough asset base in his first four decades to supply enough residual income to allow him to spend his next four decades doing whatever he wanted to do. And it's a good thing for all of us he did.

We all know of the incredible contributions Franklin made that still affect our lives today. (If Ben hadn't been free to mess with his kites, would I be typing on a notebook computer at a restaurant right now? Come to think of it, ditto his role in drafting the Declaration of Independence.) What would your life and my life be like right now if Franklin hadn't created four decades worth of residual income? What residual impact would America have lost?

Now, imagine this one: where will our grandchildren's lives be tomorrow because you and I have created residual income - because you and I are free to play with our own kites - to discover, invent, create, refine, improve, and play to our hearts' content on the world stage? What kind of impact will we have?

Residual impact generates residual income, which generates greater residual impact, which gives you more residual income. Front and back of the same coin. Both are legal tender in network marketing; both are at once your reason and reward.

For some people, network marketing is about making a lot of money.
For some people, network marketing is about making a lot of difference.
For some people, it is about both. Those are the ones we call, "leaders."

John Wooden's Definition of Success
OFFLINE
They call it "March Madness". Every Spring, the sixty-four best teams in major college basketball square off in the NCAA Basketball Tournament, one of the most hotly contested tournaments in all of sports. Many are called but only one is chosen, and when the smoke clears, the team left standing is declared the National Champion.

How competitive is this tournament? Since 1975, only twice has a team won back-to-back National Championships. So it's remarkable to realize that during the twelve years prior to 1975, a single college won seven National Championships in a row, and a total of ten championships in twelve years.

When that streak of championships began, I was in grade school. The man who coached those teams was my hero. He was known as the winningest coach in the history of college basketball. Looking back, I would say that's an understatement.

Since he retired in 1975, only one major college team has gone undefeated through an entire basketball season. But his teams accomplished this four times. They compiled the longest winning streak in the history of the game: eighty-eight straight victories. That's two and a half years without a loss. And in perhaps their greatest achievement, over a span of eight years, competing against the very best teams in the country, who were playing their very best basketball, at the time of year when a single loss would have meant the season was over, this man's teams won forty-seven NCAA Tournament games in a row.

As if those numbers aren't impressive enough, consider this: the man coached in an era when freshman couldn't play on the varsity, so he had to replace his entire team every three years. Every three years he and his remarkable coaching staff had to start from scratch. In winning seven straight National Championships, they had to do it with three completely different sets of players. That is the stuff of legend. The legend's name is John Wooden. He was the head coach of the UCLA basketball team.

Whether you're a sports fan or not, John Wooden leaps out at you as one of the greatest achievers of our time. For those looking to unlock the mysteries of human potential, Wooden's life should be required reading. His accomplishments in his line of work are so far beyond what anyone else has even approached that they shout this question: "How did he do it?" I've been asking myself that for thirty years. And I've finally found the answer.

Years ago I read a magazine interview with Coach Wooden in which he was asked how he scouted the competition before a game. He said, in effect: We don't worry about the competition; we worry about ourselves. We don't go out to try to beat somebody; we go out to play the very best we can.

There it was in black and white, staring up at me from the pages of that magazine. It was John Wooden's secret of the ages, the answer to the question: "How did he do it?" But I didn't understand it. I wasn't ready for it. I thought that the heart and soul of competitive athletics was to know your opponent. Wasn't that why coaches and athletes spent hours watching films of their competition? I thought that Wooden must not have been telling the whole story. His "secret" didn't make sense to me, so I ignored it.

A few years ago, I had the privilege to preview an intriguing new cassette album called The Pyramid of Success, featuring Jim Harrick and John Wooden, from Nightingale-Conant. The "Pyramid" was created by John Wooden in the 1930s. He has been teaching it to others ever since. It elegantly describes his philosophy about life, work, and success.

On the way home from the office that evening I popped Wooden's portion of the program into my stereo before I even had the car in gear. What a treat it was to hear his familiar voice sharing stories about his youth, his teaching career, and his remarkable years as a basketball coach. I was in heaven listening to that tape, cruising through the star-draped countryside of the beautiful rural county where I used to live.

Then Coach Wooden began to talk about competition. He said that he told his basketball players not to worry about the other team, but to worry about themselves. He said that if they played their very best, they would be successful. If they didn't play their best, then they would never be successful, no matter how many games they won. Let me say that again: John Wooden taught his players that if they didn't play their very best, then they would never be successful, no matter how many games they won.

It was deja-vu all over again. I thought back to that article I had read so many years before, and I felt the same reaction I felt then. Wooden must be leaving something out. Surely he must have worried about his competition. Surely he must have scouted the teams he had to face. After all, that's what everybody else did.

And then I finally struck brain. For twenty years I had been trying to figure out what made John Wooden different. And he had been telling me all along. What made him different was this: the winningest coach in the history of college basketball didn't worry about winning. He worried about making the effort to do his best. He didn't try to do what everybody else did, so he never limited himself to their results. He didn't compete with everybody else, so everybody else couldn't compete with him.

I was still in my car when this finally sunk in, but I started scribbling notes as fast as I could write. That's not such a smart thing to do at 60 miles an hour, especially at night, but I couldn't wait long enough to slow down. I had to get on paper the answer to the question I had been asking myself for thirty years. I had to find exactly the right way to phrase it. I had to reduce it to a simple thought, a simple rule for success. And then Coach Wooden did it for me. He said:

"Success is peace of mind that can be obtained only from the self-satisfaction of knowing that you have made the effort to do the very best of which you are capable."

I rewound the tape and played that phrase again. And again. And again. I felt like I had just discovered the Hope diamond. John Wooden was teaching me something that I should have learned way back when I was a Boy Scout. But it never sank in---until that moment. Success is making the effort to do your best. Do that, and you can never fail. Don't do that, and you can never succeed.

What's so revolutionary about the idea of making the effort to do your best? Just this: the reason Coach Wooden was such a consistent winner was that he never settled for winning. Winning wasn't enough. Even winning National Championships wasn't enough. Wooden wanted more. He wanted his teams to play their best. Every game. Against weak teams and against strong teams. He knew there were too many ways to win a game you didn't deserve to win, too many ways to win without giving your best effort. And he knew there were too many ways to lose when you didn't give your best effort.

It was that effort that Wooden was looking for. For him, that was the reason to compete. Not to win, but to make the effort to be your best. To make the most of the talent God has given you. To make the effort to become the best human being you can become. Wooden taught--and proved--that if you make that effort, winning will take care of itself.

Think how much higher his standard is, than is the standard that most people live by. In Wooden's world, you have to do more than come out on top; you have to make the effort to do your best. Winning is the by-product of that effort. Winning isn't the cake; it's just the icing. The cake is peace of mind, the peace of mind that can come only from the self-knowledge that you have made the effort to do your best.

Imagine how this might play in your own life. Have you ever gotten an "A" on a test you didn't study for? Have you ever been given a raise from your boss, even though you knew in your heart that you hadn't earned it? Have you ever won a sale that you didn't deserve?

Instead of winning, what if from now on your objective was to make the effort to do the very best of which you are capable? How much better would you perform? More importantly, how much better would you feel? What would your life be like if you refused to settle merely for winning, but insisted instead on the peace of mind that comes from the self-satisfaction of knowing that you have made the effort to do your best?

When you think about it, there is a profound irony that surrounds the career of John Wooden. As a coach, he was measured by winning. But he won by refusing to measure himself by winning. He insisted on a higher standard, the standard of making the effort to do your best.

Why is that a higher standard? Because we can't fool ourselves. So much of what passes for success is a matter of how we appear to other people. But Wooden has always been concerned with how we appear to ourselves. Are we giving our best? We might be able to fool others with half an effort, but in our own heart we will always know the truth. That is the truth that Wooden thinks we should live by.

Is he right or wrong? This March, tune in on the NCAA Basketball Tournament. Gauge the caliber of the athletes, the coaches, and the competition. Notice how much is at stake and how hard the competitors work for the ultimate victory. See for yourself how difficult it is to win even a single championship. And then remember the man who won ten.

More Than "Just A Business"

More Than "Just A Business" Would you jump out of an airplane with a parachute that would only open 2 out of 100 times? Most would say NO WAY! “But, you are – right now (pause) – if you are following ‘the formula.’” “So, what’s this formula?” The formula that produces a 98% Failure Rate is: Go to school, study hard, get good grades, get a degree, and get a good JOB. Isn't this what we're all taught from the time we're young? It's a formula that produces a 98% failure rate. According to the Social Security Administration, out of every 100 people who reach the age 65: 45% are financially dependent on relatives 30% live on charity 23% still work only 2% are self-sustaining in retirement As you can see, following this formula that most everyone follows, produces a 98% failure rate. These stats come directly from our own Governmental agency. I believe the our business model is a better way! We have people in the company who, after only short period of consistent, persistent effort are earning BIG MONEY - much more than they could ever earn working a JOB. I'm talking $100,000 a year and some people FIVE TIMES that! They also have a business that gives them control of their time. Time to wake up when they want, spend time with family, travel, own their dream home, and have a completely secure retirement. So why would anyone want to work for 40+ years, at a JOB they hate, for a small income - with a 98% chance of financial failure at retirement when they could work within the Business Model for 2-5 years and retire financially independent with a six-figure income for life? Don't ask me! In addition to the time and the money, our compay provides many intangible benefits you can be proud of. We are helping people with a life changing product, helping others develop financial security, and making new friends around the world. This is MORE THAN A BUSINESS - IT'S A LIFESTYLE. When you get that down you'll be a massive success. The security, the peace of mind, and the principals and values to live by are amazing. I would encourage all to realize that this is so very much more than “just a business.” I hope you REJECT the parachute I talked about earlier and help other ambitious, intelligent people to REJECT it as well. There is a much better way. We’ll hope to see you on the beaches of the world…

Now let me say something right here, they are typical of us all (if we had ourselves in a similar position); their story just happened to get in the Book. The story says that the children of Israel are slaves in Egypt. God performed a series of dazzling miracles and gets them out. Now they have their freedom and are heading for the Promised Land. But... the tragedy of the story - they never got there. Reason - from day one they started to complain. They griped about the food - they had just been delivered from slavery and they are complaining about the food?! They complained and cried and griped about the water. In the desert they HAD water to drink, but... it didn't taste that good?! They complained about the leadership... that had just delivered them from slavery?! They complained that it was too hot, too cold, too far, too difficult, too rocky. They cried for years - forty to be exact. Finally, God said I've had it trip cancelled! The story says that they died in the desert and never reached the Promised Land - after all that trouble! I believe this story teaches two things: 1) Indulge in complaining long enough and you will get your future cancelled - future promotions, future opportunities. 2) Even God himself can only take so much complaining. I think you get my point. Complaining is not for the winners in life. You must focus on what you can do,not what you cannot. And you must focus on the opportunities not the difficulties. When you do this you will not only inspire yourself but you will be an example for others to follow as well. - Jim Rohn

The Power Of A Dream!
OFFLINE
The Power Of A Dream!

People ask me, what is the single biggest key to success in building a successful Business. What's the secret? My reply is
always - YOU ARE THE SECRET. THE SIZE OF YOUR DREAM LIST WILL DETERMINE THE SIZE OF YOUR BUSINESS!

Think about that statement for a minute.

How hard is it to do the Business? Not Hard. All you have to do is put someone on the presentation, have them listen to a cassette tape, review a general information website, and follow thorough. That's not hard, A fifth grader could do it.

The SECRET is YOUR EXCITEMENT AND ENTHUSIASM during the process that gets people interested! Your excitement
and enthusiasm will be in direct proportion to your passion for helping people and your DREAM! The BIGGER you see this business being for you, the more "pumped
up" you'll be - and people will sense that - so DREAM BIG!

Where will you be in 2-5 years if you keep on doing what you've been doing? Is your current occupation taking you where you want to go? Our Business can take you ANYWHERE you want to go!

Never forget this:

1) PEOPLE WON'T FOLLOW A WIMP!
2) PEOPLE WANT TO FOLLOW A BIG DREAMER!
3) IF YOU WANT TO BUILD A BIG BUSINESS - YOU MUST BE A BIG DREAMER!

Here are some sample DREAMS / reasons for building the business:

* More time freedom to be with those you love.
* To become debt free & financially free
* To donate more time & money to church or charity
* To bring spouse home from job
* Go full time and be completely FREE!
* Send kids to private school/college
* To own your dream car/home
* To Travel

If you want to begin building a big, successful business, start a dream list right now, on paper and review it EVERY day. Make it a burn. See your Business as a means to that end, and INSPIRE others to
go for their dreams! Your leadership and belief in them is what will recruit them. It's easy to share a few tools that explain the opportunity - but without a dream and
excitement - not much happens. People without a dream have no REASON to build the business.

Be a dreamer. Inspire and coach others to achieve their dreams. The money in this business is being a builder of people. If you build people, people will build the business.

THERE IS ALWAYS A GOOD SIDE.
OFFLINE
THERE IS ALWAYS A GOOD SIDE. Everything depends on the way you look at things. View every problem you encounter as an opportunity. There is always a good side to every situation. The optimist sees an opportunity in every misfortune. The pessimist sees misfortune in every opportunity. The optimist sees the doughnut, the pessimist sees the hole. You can develop success from every failure. Discouragement and failure are two stepping stones to success. No other elements can do so much for you if you're willing to study them and make them work for you. When it is dark enough, you can see the stars.

Success is Calling!
OFFLINE
Do What You Love To Do in Life!

Close your eyes and picture yourself working at your perfect job. Can you see it? What are you doing? Are you smiling as you work? Are you reporting to someone, or are others reporting to you? Are you on your own, being your own boss?

Spend a few moments there in your mind’s eye seeing, feeling and being in that moment of your ideal career. Now open your eyes. How close is it to the reality of what you do today? Like many of us, chances are you have aspirations to achieve something greater than you have right now. The good news is that you aren’t stuck—you will likely have the opportunity for a change in your life.

The questions are:

1. Will it be a change for the better?

2. How can you ensure that it is?

It’s up to you to set yourself up for success. It’s not up to anyone but you to determine how much you will succeed and how far you can go, and setting yourself up for success is easier than you might think.

Constantly Raise the Bar — CANI Tony Robbins talks about a system that he believes in and teaches in his seminars, CANI. CANI stands for Constant And Never-ending Improvement. This can be an extremely useful tool to use in your own career, or even in your personal life. Don’t ever settle for where you are if it is incongruent with that vision of doing your ideal work. Instead, imagine the next step, where you want to be, and then make a plan to get there.

So decide now to commit to CANI! Commit to living life so you’re constantly and never endingly improving, where you’re willing to do the repetitions, listen to tapes, attend seminars, take notes, read books. If every day you find some small way to constantly improve, you will give your life a richness beyond anything you can possibly imagine. Each day these tiny improvements will build one upon another, and one day you’ll wake up and discover you’re living your dreams.

Another way to tap into success and achieve your dreams is to consider attending Unleash the Power Within. UNLEASH THE POWER WITHIN is about creating breakthroughs, moving beyond fears and limiting beliefs, accomplishing goals and realizing true desires, turning dreams into reality, creating fulfilling relationships, and modeling the strategies of peak performers to produce a quantum difference in your life.

A Balanced approach to Career, Health and Vitality
OFFLINE
Career, Health and Vitality When was the last time you felt truly energized both at work and at home? Can you recall a time when you felt vital, vibrant and ready to take on the world? Hopefully you can say yes to that, but if you can’t you’re not alone. Anyone who’s seen Tony Robbins on stage has asked, “How the heck does he do it?” How is it possible that this one man can not only speak on stage for days at a time at events, but very often leave that stage and immediately head to the next one, just in time to start another event? Not to mention that he finds time to produce products, create and run businesses, and have a fulfilling family life! The secret doesn’t come in a bottle or a pill, it’s not a miracle cure or an energy shot; what makes it possible for Tony to maintain the unbelievably high energy level you see on stage, is that he believes in a balanced approach to health and vitality. He takes care of his physical body, through excellent nutrition and exercise regimens, but he also knows that it’s important to maintain the strength of another set of muscles—the emotional muscles. And that’s where a lot of people miss out on experiencing the most of life, they forget to tighten, strengthen, and tone their emotions while they focus on biceps and quads. Today our world is in a frenetic spin. Thousands of daily responsibilities and pressures take a tremendous toll on our physical bodies, greatly affecting our energy levels. This is a vicious circle we put ourselves into because the careers and lifestyle we choose demand high energy, yet that very vibrancy is what most people severely lack. We all know that maintaining high energy is key to keeping a body healthy and a mind sharp. We’ve heard that stress ills and eventually kills. We know we need a balance as the lines between work and play, home and office bleed into a single puddle of exhaustion, burnout and an utter breakdown. But how the heck do we achieve that? There are many possible solutions that might help increase energy for short periods of time: such as caffeine and sugar. The thing is that if you rely solely on one or two things, it’s just not going to work in the long haul. For instance, say you drank coffee and took vitamins, but didn’t bother to get much sleep or take an occasional walk around the block here and there. Coffee and vitamins can only go so far. Yes, it all goes back to that balance thing again. Maintaining a healthy body means maintaining a healthy mindset. There is no way that one can happen without the other. You’ve got to switch the juice on at the brain and let it run through your arms and legs, heart and soul, career and lifestyle. One of the greatest gifts you can give yourself is to direct the focus of your mind toward empowering thoughts so that it can heal your body instead of weakening it. Yes, you’ve heard that before, but really think about putting it into action in these practical ways today, right now: Pay Inside Attention What you say to yourself can make or break you from the inside out. Even just focusing your language on words that describe the gratitude you have in your life, rather than how much you have to get done today, will creative a tremendous shift in how you feel. Seriously. Try it. Try it now. Do it when you’re drinking your water and taking your vitamins. Do it while you’re peddling around the world on your stationary bike in the gym. Focus on gratitude. Focus on compassion. Reach deep inside for it because it’s there just waiting to come out. Create an All-Encompassing Personalized Program. Put together a program that includes eating healthy, exercising and building a strong physiology for your physical and emotional body. Flex all those muscles and feed them well with the good stuff they need to sustain you during your special time on this planet. And it is special—don’t let the to-do lists and upwardly mobile mindset convince you otherwise. Pick a Team A support system can be very helpful in ensuring that you create a system that you can stick to. Rallying friends and family who support you is vital to your success— and is why, incidentally, you're not the only person on earth. A coaching program is an excellent option to explore as well. After all, at the end of the day, you can never have too many people in your cheering section!

The Career Mindset —Change Your Limiting Beliefs
OFFLINE
Leadership TrainingThe Career Mindset —Change Your Limiting Beliefs

Do you think you’re too old or too young to be considered for a particular position? Do you see yourself as inexperienced or overqualified for a position that would really get you excited about life again?

Stop that!

Instead of focusing on what you feel you can’t do and what you think you don’t have, focus on what you do bring to the table—it’s likely more than you think! If you raise your standards but don’t really believe you can meet them, you’ve already sabotaged yourself. Our beliefs are like unquestioned commands, telling us what we can and cannot do. They shape every action, thought and feeling we experience. Changing our beliefs is central to making any real and lasting changes in our lives. Without changing your beliefs, you can raise your standards as much as you like, but you’ll never have the conviction to back them up. How much would Gandhi have accomplished had he not believed in the power of nonviolent opposition with every fiber of his being? It was the congruence of his belief, which enabled him to meet challenges that would have slain a less committed man. Empowering beliefs, this sense of certainty, is the force behind all great success. The ideas are inside you—focus on them rather than on the beliefs that limit you.

Move Your Standards Higher
No matter where you are right now, strive towards something higher. If you own your own business, think about ways to expand. If you work in a corporate office, think about new skills you could master that would make you even more valuable to your organization. The standards you set for yourself should be higher than the standards anyone else sets for you!

Change Your Strategy
If you try something and it doesn’t work, what do you usually do? Most people give up

surprisingly quickly—but it’s those who persevere that eventually do succeed. For example, did you know that Walt Disney went to more than 300 banks before he got the loan that helped him open Disneyland? It’s easy to imagine that people probably just laughed at him and his “crazy” idea of some fantasyland of fun. Thankfully, Walt used his creativity and trusted his vision even in the face of seemingly endless rejection.

The key to this kind of success and fulfillment is to figure out what it is you really want, focus on your outcome, and commit to doing whatever it takes to get there. How many times should you change your strategy? As many times as it takes to achieve your outcome!

One great tool to utilize in creating a plan for achievement is Tony's RPM program. RPM is a life management system that helps you avoid the pitfalls of to-do lists and, instead, focus on the actual outcome you want and why it is that you want it. RPM can help you coordinate and organize your life in a way that allows for constant attention to how you can CANI your career, your business, and your personal life, all in one simple system.

Never Put the HOW Before the WHY
OFFLINE
Leadership TrainingLet the Story Move You:

People always ask me, "Rick, how can I build a business like you've got?" A lot of times they don't understand that the "why" is just as important as the "how-to." In this business the "why" is so important because it gives people belief. All it takes is a good success story to show that everybody who builds this business, especially including Tricia and I, have faced adversity at one time or another, and those who really want to succeed will stick with it until their challenges are beaten.

People who are having a hard time getting their business off the ground say to their mentors, "Well, you wouldn't understand what I'm going through. You're not where I'm at. You're already successful." Not true. The mentors were there themselves, or somewhere even worse. It's not until people hear stories from some of the most renowned businesspeople, politicians, entertainers, professionals, or ministers that they realize these people went through the same obstacles when they were starting out.

The majority of stories you'll hear from people in this business are about success achieved in the face of adversity, and that's why they're so special. On any given subject, you don't have to go very far to find tons of whiners. You see, negative people will tell a hard-luck story just for the sake of complaining. Instead of learning from their mistakes, they'd rather complain to anybody and everybody about how their failure was somebody else's fault. On the other hand, the stories you hear in this business start off as hard-luck stories and then turn into stories of success. That's because winners don't quit when they encounter one failure or two failures or ten or twenty. Some people make excuses; other people make decisions. But you can't make them both.

A good success story empowers you to overcome your own challenges, but a good success story isn't enough. You have to empower yourself to apply the knowledge you learn from the story to your own life. It's your choice. You set your priorities. If you want to empower yourself you've got to realize you're in charge. You can hear the greatest story in the world or have the greatest Business Support Team in the world, but they still can't make you do something you've decided you're not going to do. Until you believe in yourself enough to empower yourself to do what it takes to succeed, the message won't matter. And there's nothing better for building belief than a good success story.

The "how-to" is important in this business, but it's the "why" that will make you want to learn the "how-to." Your Business Support Team can supply you with both, but you have the freedom to choose your own destiny. You have to have a partnership with them in your empowerment. Failure exists because people don't understand the power of empowerment. Why not empower yourself to choose a life better than the rest?

Reaping a Multiple Reward by Jim Rohn
OFFLINE
Reaping a Multiple Reward by Jim Rohn For every disciplined effort, there are multiple rewards. That's one of life's great arrangements. In fact, it's an extension of the Biblical law that says that if you sow well, you will reap well. Here's a unique part of the Law of Sowing and Reaping. Not only does it suggest that we'll all reap what we've sown, it also suggests that we'll reap much more. Life is full of laws that both govern and explain behaviors, but this may well be the major law we need to understand: for every disciplined effort, there are multiple rewards. What a concept! If you render unique service, your reward will be multiplied. If you're fair and honest and patient with others, your reward will be multiplied. If you give more than you expect to receive, your reward is more than you expect. But remember: the key word here, as you might well imagine, is discipline. Everything of value requires care, attention, and discipline. Our thoughts require discipline. We must consistently determine our inner boundaries and our codes of conduct, or our thoughts will be confused. And if our thoughts are confused, we will become hopelessly lost in the maze of life. Confused thoughts produce confused results. Remember the law: "For every disciplined effort, there are multiple rewards." Learn the discipline of writing a card or a letter to a friend. Learn the discipline of paying your bills on time, arriving to appointments on time, or using your time more effectively. Learn the discipline of paying attention, or paying your taxes or paying yourself. Learn the discipline of having regular meetings with your associates, or your spouse, or your child, or your parent. Learn the discipline of learning all you can learn, of teaching all you can teach, of reading all you can read. For each discipline, multiple rewards. For each book, new knowledge. For each success, new ambition. For each challenge, new understanding. For each failure, new determination. Life is like that. Even the bad experiences of life provide their own special contribution. But a word of caution here for those who neglect the need for care and attention to life's disciplines: everything has its price. Everything affects everything else. Neglect discipline, and there will be a price to pay. All things of value can be taken for granted with the passing of time. That's what we call the Law of Familiarity. Without the discipline of paying constant, daily attention, we take things for granted. Be serious. Life's not a practice session. If you're often inclined to toss your clothes onto the chair rather than hanging them in the closet, be careful. It could suggest a lack of discipline. And remember, a lack of discipline in the small areas of life can cost you heavily in the more important areas of life. You cannot clean up your company until you learn the discipline of cleaning your own garage. You cannot be impatient with your children and be patient with your distributors or your employees. You cannot inspire others to sell more when that goal is inconsistent with your own conduct. You cannot admonish others to read good books when you don't have a library card. Think about your life at this moment. What areas need attention right now? Perhaps you've had a disagreement with someone you love or someone who loves you, and your anger won't allow you to speak to that person. Wouldn't this be an ideal time to examine your need for a new discipline? Perhaps you're on the brink of giving up, or starting over, or starting out. And the only missing ingredient to your incredible success story in the future is a new and self-imposed discipline that will make you try harder and work more intensely than you ever thought you could. The most valuable form of discipline is the one that you impose upon yourself. Don't wait for things to deteriorate so drastically that someone else must impose discipline in your life. Wouldn't that be tragic? How could you possibly explain the fact that someone else thought more of you than you thought of yourself? That they forced you to get up early and get out into the marketplace when you would have been content to let success go to someone else who cared more about themselves. Your life, my life, the life of each one of us is going to serve as either a warning or an example. A warning of the consequences of neglect, self-pity, lack of direction and ambition ... or an example of talent put to use, of discipline self-imposed, and of objectives clearly perceived and intensely pursued.

Simple Ways to Pay Yourself First
OFFLINE
A BILL YOU'LL LOOK FORWARD TO PAYING Simple Ways to Pay Yourself First by Dena Braun While many people may believe the old adage, "Look out for number one," most fail to do so when it comes to financial matters. Everybody has monthly expenses and the first check that gets written every month should be to yourself. This simple investing strategy supports your plan to build wealth. To begin "paying yourself first" follow these easy steps: 1. Decide on an Amount Experts suggest that you pay yourself 10% of your take-home pay. If you absolutely can't put that much away, start with as much as possible - but be sure to increase the amount to 10% over a pre-determined period of time. Think about the small expenses that add up-trips to the coffee shop, lunches out - and all the 'doodads' we purchase. Eliminate a few frivolous expenses and you'll be on your way to socking away 10% easily...and have it available to use in creating assets. 2. Do it Automatically Don't be tempted not to pay yourself each month. Have the money electronically transferred from your checking account into a 'holding tank' to draw from when you need it or an investment plan you've developed. 3. See the Long-Term Benefits If you saved $400 a month, and assuming a modest growth rate of 7%, you would have amassed - in 40 years - a million dollars. Need the money sooner? Give yourself a raise!

Business and Investing are Team Sports

Leadership TrainingBusiness and Investing are Team Sports

In "Warren Buffet Speaks", investment guru Buffet was quoted as saying: "Wall Street is the only place that people ride to in a Rolls Royce to get advice from those who take the subway."

by Sharon Lechter
CPA, co-author of Rich Dad series of books
and CEO and co-founder of CASHFLOW Technologies, Inc.

Rich Dad said, "If you want to be rich, who you know is more important than what you know." He explained further, saying, "Business is a team sport and investing is a team sport. The average investor or small-business person loses financially because they do not have a team. Instead of a team, they act as individuals who are trampled by very smart teams."

People in the "E" (employee) and the "S" (self-employed) side of the CASHFLOW Quadrant (right) are taught to operate as individuals so they do not learn how to build a team. They often make less money than they could or would like because they tend to do everything on their own. Successful "B" (business owners) and "I" (investors) surround themselves with a team of experts in every area of law, tax, accounting, insurance, or securities so they find advisors who have assisted other people along their path to success.

An important distinction when selecting your team is that you want advisors who are strategists to the rich, not salespeople. Rich Dad's Advisors counsel the rich, but are not salespeople to the rich. There is a big difference. Strategists get paid for their expertise and advice. Salespeople get paid for selling you something. Always know which type of advisor you are talking to. Also look for professionals who have personal experience in the specific area you are seeking advice. Does your real estate broker personally own any investment properties? Remember, there is nothing better than first-hand experience.

Rich Dad's team of experts included accountants, attorneys, brokers, financial advisors, Insurance agents, and bankers - all who were consulted before making decisions. Now we do the same at Rich Dad's organization. Our incredible team of advisors has helped us achieve the success we enjoy today.

They have agreed to share their expertise and strategies through the Rich Dad's Advisors Series of books and this column. Be sure to read the Advisor's Column each issue and draw from our extensive resource of experts. Learn what it takes to gather your own advisors and start building your winning team!

The Formula For Failure and Success
OFFLINE
Failure is not a single, cataclysmic event. We do not fail overnight. Failure is the inevitable result of an accumulation of poor thinking and poor choices. To put it more simply, failure is nothing more than a few errors in judgment repeated every day. Now why would someone make an error in judgment and then be so foolish as to repeat it every day? The answer is because he or she does not think that it matters. On their own, our daily acts do not seem that important. A minor oversight, a poor decision, or a wasted hour generally doesn't result in an instant and measurable impact. More often than not, we escape from any immediate consequences of our deeds. If we have not bothered to read a single book in the past ninety days, this lack of discipline does not seem to have any immediate impact on our lives. And since nothing drastic happened to us after the first ninety days, we repeat this error in judgment for another ninety days, and on and on it goes. Why? Because it doesn't seem to matter. And herein lies the great danger. Far worse than not reading the books is not even realizing that it matters! Those who eat too many of the wrong foods are contributing to a future health problem, but the joy of the moment overshadows the consequence of the future. It does not seem to matter. Those who smoke too much or drink too much go on making these poor choices year after year after year... because it doesn't seem to matter. But the pain and regret of these errors in judgment have only been delayed for a future time. Consequences are seldom instant; instead, they accumulate until the inevitable day of reckoning finally arrives and the price must be paid for our poor choices - choices that didn't seem to matter. Failure's most dangerous attribute is its subtlety. In the short term those little errors don't seem to make any difference. We do not seem to be failing. In fact, sometimes these accumulated errors in judgment occur throughout a period of great joy and prosperity in our lives. Since nothing terrible happens to us, since there are no instant consequences to capture our attention, we simply drift from one day to the next, repeating the errors, thinking the wrong thoughts, listening to the wrong voices and making the wrong choices. The sky did not fall in on us yesterday; therefore the act was probably harmless. Since it seemed to have no measurable consequence, it is probably safe to repeat. But we must become better educated than that! If at the end of the day when we made our first error in judgment the sky had fallen in on us, we undoubtedly would have taken immediate steps to ensure that the act would never be repeated again. Like the child who places his hand on a hot burner despite his parents' warnings, we would have had an instantaneous experience accompanying our error in judgment. Unfortunately, failure does not shout out its warnings as our parents once did. This is why it is imperative to refine our philosophy in order to be able to make better choices. With a powerful, personal philosophy guiding our every step, we become more aware of our errors in judgment and more aware that each error really does matter. Now here is the great news. Just like the formula for failure, the formula for success is easy to follow: It's a few simple disciplines practiced every day. Now here is an interesting question worth pondering: How can we change the errors in the formula for failure into the disciplines required in the formula for success? The answer is by making the future an important part of our current philosophy. Both success and failure involve future consequences, namely the inevitable rewards or unavoidable regrets resulting from past activities. If this is true, why don't more people take time to ponder the future? The answer is simple: They are so caught up in the current moment that it doesn't seem to matter. The problems and the rewards of today are so absorbing to some human beings that they never pause long enough to think about tomorrow. But what if we did develop a new discipline to take just a few minutes every day to look a little further down the road? We would then be able to foresee the impending consequences of our current conduct. Armed with that valuable information, we would be able to take the necessary action to change our errors into new success-oriented disciplines. In other words, by disciplining ourselves to see the future in advance, we would be able to change our thinking, amend our errors and develop new habits to replace the old. One of the exciting things about the formula for success - a few simple disciplines practiced every day - is that the results are almost immediate. As we voluntarily change daily errors into daily disciplines, we experience positive results in a very short period of time. When we change our diet, our health improves noticeably in just a few weeks. When we start exercising, we feel a new vitality almost immediately. When we begin reading, we experience a growing awareness and a new level of self-confidence. Whatever new discipline we begin to practice daily will produce exciting results that will drive us to become even better at developing new disciplines. The real magic of new disciplines is that they will cause us to amend our thinking. If we were to start today to read the books, keep a journal, attend the classes, listen more and observe more, then today would be the first day of a new life leading to a better future. If we were to start today to try harder, and in every way make a conscious and consistent effort to change subtle and deadly errors into constructive and rewarding disciplines, we would never again settle for a life of existence - not once we have tasted the fruits of a life of substance!

Finding Balance Between Work & Home
OFFLINE
By Tony Robbins If tomorrow were the last day of your life, what would you do? With whom would you spend your time? It’s a question Tony often asks. And it’s one that makes many of us stop and think about our priorities in life, especially since a majority of us spend more time working than we do at home with our families. More than 25 million Americans work at least 49–59 hours a week. So much time away from home often leads to stress, the No. 1 health problem according to the American Institute of Stress. The institute’s research also indicates that nearly 80 percent of all illnesses are either caused by or made worse by stress. With so many hours spent “on the clock” and the potential damage it can cause, you can see why it’s so important to find more balance between work and family. So what do we do? How do we get things done and still have time and energy to experience and enjoy the special moments with those we care about most? Try incorporating Tony’s “Three Master Steps to Lasting Change” as a tool to help establish a better connection with your family. Get Leverage Raise your standards by turning your “shoulds” into “musts.” As soon as you find yourself saying, “I should go home,” do it! Stop denying yourself the pleasure of going home to your loved ones. Make an effort to notice the time you are not spending with your family and associate pain with it. Realize your goals for your entire life and be cognizant when you start giving too much attention to just work. Change Your Limiting Beliefs The English poet John Dryden once said, “We first make our habits, and then our habits make us.” Interrupt those patterns. Instead of making a long list of things you need to accomplish in a day, try making a list of outcomes that actually mean something to you and your family. End your psychological torment! If you are not able to get everything accomplished, remind yourself that tomorrow is another day. Create an Empowering Alternative You may have patterns that you follow every day, every week, every month—ones you can count on daily in order to establish some semblance of structure and forward progress in your life. Although these patterns may be comfortable, they also may be holding you back from accomplishing what’s really important to you. Try changing some of your day-to-day routines and incorporate more “big picture” strategies to help establish a deeper sense of meaning with your family. You can get more information about these Master Steps directly from Tony at UNLEASH THE POWER WITHIN, where you’ll also learn his newest technologies for creating a richer sense of passion, joy, and fulfillment in your life. In the meantime, summertime is a special time of year, so here are some creative ways to help make the most of the time you spend with your family. Ultimately, these tools will help create more balance in your life and allow you to more effectively serve yourself and your family.

Fighting For the Family
OFFLINE
By Tony Robbins How can two people who love and care for each other, with a 15-year history and two young children, be so close to splitting up? It was an experience Tony encountered at a DATE WITH DESTINY seminar when a man named Paul stood up and declared he was thinking about leaving his wife, but he was concerned that if he did, he would lose his sense of identity. Suddenly, the man’s wife, Jen, got up and stood tearfully at his side. Here were two people who obviously loved each other but who were bracing themselves for divorce. How does this happen? Tony realized that the couples’ challenge resided in the way they met their needs. The basis of Human Needs Psychology is that we all have six primary needs—certainty, uncertainty, significance, connection, growth, and contribution—that must be met, whether in good or harmful ways. In our busy lives, it is often easy to look beyond our family and spouse in order to meet these needs. We develop habits in our work, networks of friends, interests, and hobbies. Along the way, this can get out of balance. In Paul and Jen’s case, both had developed ways of meeting their personal needs outside of the relationship—through extended family, their children, and work—so that their love for each other became secondary. Tony took Paul and Jen through a process that helped them develop a way to serve each other more deeply and lovingly. They made commitments to each other and completely changed their lives. Today, they are passionately in love, feeling the deep fulfillment of meeting each other’s most important needs. Below is a link to the 8-minute clip from “Return From the Edge: Creating Everlasting Love,” the soon-to-be-released film from the Robbins-Madanes Center for Strategic Intervention. It begins from the moment Paul stands up with his problem. The process can help apply the six needs in your own life and how you can use them to build upon the relationship with your family and loved ones. The Robbins-Madanes Center for Strategic Intervention is dedicated to promoting greater harmony and effectiveness in social systems ranging from families to corporations, and to government and nongovernmental organizations. Anthony Robbins and Cloé Madanes have joined forces in their effort to find solutions to interpersonal conflicts, to prevent violence and to contribute to the creation of a more cohesive and civil community. Their vision is to develop the field of Strategic Intervention integrating elements from a variety of social science, business and political perspectives, in order to form a unified field of strategic practice.

Living Authentic
OFFLINE
I woke up thinking about how we were discussing the
word "authentic" and how important it is. I was struggling over the
antics of my eldest son recently and how he was not living authentic
and being authentic with me. It prompted me to analyze my own
life, values and mission statement. I choose to live authentic! I
also look forward to living and having an authentic relationship with
each of you.

Please read the below paragraphs on my new found mission of
AUTHENTIC! I am now placing my personal mission statement in
my personal footer of every email I send. I see it as a way to
possibly inspire someone to live a fulfilled and authentic life, while
holding my self accountable for living and doing the same.

I have chosen the journey. LIFE, HEALTH, PROSERITY!
Thanks for the inspiration!

AUTHENTIC implies being fully trustworthy as according with fact.

One of the defining features of an authentic business is that they
should have integrity between communications and actions. A
defining feature of an authentic business is that it's profound and
positive purpose shines through in every aspect of what it does,
whether paying invoices, parting ways with a member of staff, or
presenting at a conference. In this way everyone coming into
contact with the business will experience the integrity of its purpose – the absolute congruence between what it says it stands for, what it
thinks, what it believes and what it actually does.

Everyone working in an authentic business lives and breathes what
the company stands for, not because their job and profits depend
on it, but because it’s what they stand for too. To arrive at this
evolved yet simple state is never a coincidence. It takes a good
deal of planning, care, energy and work. It’s important that
everyone has the chance in an open environment to explore what
the business’s purpose and values really mean to them.

As people voice their values, it’s essential to continue to evolve the
purpose in order to add fresh energy to the existing energy. With
complete alignment of purpose the energy will flow and it will be
exciting to explore all the opportunities that exist within the
authentic business, to express the purpose. The outcome is a
motivated, committed and inspired team, more motivated and
committed than any other you could find amongst your conventional
competitors. The integrity that your authentic business will then
show to the world will not only win loyalty, but go on nourishing it
and strengthening it to deliver its core purpose for all.

SUN TZU ON THE ART OF WAR - Chapter 1
OFFLINE
SUN TZU ON THE ART OF WAR T
HE OLDEST MILITARY TREATISE IN THE WORLD
The Art of War - Chapter 1 - LAYING PLANS
I. LAYING PLANS

1. Sun Tzu said: The art of war is of vital importance to the State.

2. It is a matter of life and death, a road either to safety or to ruin. Hence it is a subject of inquiry which can on no account be neglected.

3. The art of war, then, is governed by five constant factors, to be taken into account in one's deliberations, when seeking to determine the conditions obtaining in the field.

4. These are: (1) The Moral Law; (2) Heaven; (3) Earth; (4) The Commander; (5) Method and discipline.

5,6. The Moral Law causes the people to be in complete accord with their ruler, so that they will follow him regardless of their lives, undismayed by any danger.

7. Heaven signifies night and day, cold and heat, times and seasons.

8. Earth comprises distances, great and small; danger and security; open ground and narrow passes; the chances of life and death.

9. The Commander stands for the virtues of wisdom, sincerely, benevolence, courage and strictness.

10. By method and discipline are to be understood the marshaling of the army in its proper subdivisions, the graduations of rank among the officers, the maintenance of roads by which supplies may reach the army, and the control of military expenditure.

11. These five heads should be familiar to every general: he who knows them will be victorious; he who knows them not will fail.

12. Therefore, in your deliberations, when seeking to determine the military conditions, let them be made the basis of a comparison, in this wise:--

13. (1) Which of the two sovereigns is imbued with the Moral law? (2) Which of the two generals has most ability? (3) With whom lie the advantages derived from Heaven and Earth? (4) On which side is discipline most rigorously enforced? (5) Which army is stronger? (6) On which side are officers and men more highly trained? (7) In which army is there the greater constancy both in reward and punishment?

14. By means of these seven considerations I can forecast victory or defeat.

15. The general that hearkens to my counsel and acts upon it, will conquer: let such a one be retained in command! The general that hearkens not to my counsel nor acts upon it, will suffer defeat:--let such a one be dismissed!

16. While heading the profit of my counsel, avail yourself also of any helpful circumstances over and beyond the ordinary rules.

17. According as circumstances are favorable, one should modify one's plans.

18. All warfare is based on deception.

19. Hence, when able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must seem inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near.

20. Hold out baits to entice the enemy. Feign disorder, and crush him.

21. If he is secure at all points, be prepared for him. If he is in superior strength, evade him.

22. If your opponent is of choleric temper, seek to irritate him. Pretend to be weak, that he may grow arrogant.

23. If he is taking his ease, give him no rest. If his forces are united, separate them.

24. Attack him where he is unprepared, appear where you are not expected.

25. These military devices, leading to victory, must not be divulged beforehand.

26. Now the general who wins a battle makes many calculations in his temple ere the battle is fought. The general who loses a battle makes but few calculations beforehand. Thus do many calculations lead to victory, and few calculations to defeat: how much more no calculation at all! It is by attention to this point that I can foresee who is likely to win or lose.

Standing in the Heat
OFFLINE
Standing in the Heat

For all of us as individuals, situations of intense pressure, stress or challenge cause us to change. Sometimes it's for the better and sometimes not. Typically, those situations heighten our emotions, sometimes depleting our ability to think rationally. That's when instinct and the survival mode kick in. For some it's fight or flight. For other it's withdraw and run for cover. For some it's "CYA." For others it's courage, bravery, brilliance and strength.

Through enough commitment, practice and repetition, the Code of Honor overrides old survival instincts and holds things together. It forces us to stick it out, ride out the pressure and come out the other side stronger. I call this "standing in the heat."

Will your Code Of Honor dissipate when the heat is on?

Be Awesome!
